What a great start to Saturday :)

Isn't this the most breathtakingly beautiful bit of scenery ever? Whaddya mean, no? You obviously aren't seeing it through the eyes of someone on a runners high from being half way through an interval run πŸ˜‚

Today started really well. I did the Wordle in two steps. Then I got an email to say I'd won (a little bit on) the Premium Bonds. Husband didn't feel like running today but I was fired up,feeling really cheerfu,l determined to run 3 times a week this month to make up for all the winter sluggishness. He's not a fan of intervals so I treated myself to a suggestion from the NRC 10k plan, 'Slow Down 2 Speed Up', a Headspace run.

I had a great BBC Sounds playlist so off I set. I don't often run alone these days but the fields were deserted, wide open vistas that just feel safe.

The run starts with a warm up, then two 3:30 minute 10k intervals. Nice easy start. Then two 2:30 5k intervals. Yeah, bring it on. Then the first of two 1:30 mile pace intervals. I went for it, quite quick for me. Oh dear, then the second mile pace interval. I tried but I was tired, pace was 13 seconds slower. I'm an old lady for heavens sake!!

I think I only saw one dog walker the whole run, a man in his 40s I'd guess who stood aside to let me pass, but where was he? Yep, at the end of my second mile pace interval. I took an earphone out and told him I'd been running very fast (for me ;) ). He smiled, kindly.

Of course, that meant I couldn't stop and stretch as he was walking the same way as me and the last thing I wanted was a conversation. I walked briskly until it was time for the 'celebration pace' 30 seconds and ran as fast as I could. It half killed me but it felt pretty good (pace nearly 30 seconds quicker than my second mile pace). By now it was drizzling so I jogged home gently to avoid the rain.

I've been smiling all day :)

What a glorious view... my kind of view... wild and wonderful! A super run with a real mix going on there... and the best bit... the smiles.... For me certainly that is what it is all about!

Congratulations on your Wordle success! Amazing 😁

It really was a good run, totally energising.

And thanks for the spring chicken too, I'll be 65 in a few weeks and, God willing, will be a grandma in a few months so am trying on the old lady label for size (but only when it suits me) πŸ˜‚

I usually use the same start word every day. One day it was the solution. I felt a bit cheated lol
