YES!!!

All the years I have banged on about slow and steady, and then talking about the long slow, easy runs which evolve as we move on.

No comparison with this incredible runner's regime but I do feel that I have been on the right track ( pardon the pun:)

Such an interesting article...and as they say, if it is good enough for Kipchoge?

Thanks for this... made my day! x

PS

My run this morning will not contain anything resembling a fast pace:)

I know, I have quite a few of your posts on this running slow to run fast, discussion :) Thank you!

Excellent article-although his interpretation of slow is astoundingly fast-such an amazing athlete!

That's what I was thinking Week7 - 4:30-5:00/km is easy pace? Yeah right.

Indeed! 4'30"/km is my sprint target pace. I can just about sustain 5min/km for a few minutes, and I have done a 4 minute km once (then leaned against a lamppost to get my breath back).

And there are only three zones in the regime they describe in the article. Most guides (and watches) have five.

The three zones was my takeaway because it linked so simply to breathing which was the thrust of the article. Laura Muir's coach explained her successful competitive middle distance running down to the long slow winter runs. I remembered this when I started running and great to read this article.

It's all relative 😁

Excellent article, Instructor57. Thank you for highlighting it. 🙏

Really interesting. So my throwing a 80m elevation gain into the first 2k of my long slow runs is probably a bad idea!

Also it seems that my swimming is a really good cross training method. I am amazed at how low my heart rate stays despite the effort I put in…ignoring butterfly of course (which I have now given up before it gives me up! ) Food for thought; thanks 🙂

This is great! Thanks for sharing.

I did the “Run with Eliud” run on the NRC app as part of my HM training and that’s well worth a listen. He talks about how he runs there too and I could have listened for ages and ages. It’s 60 minutes but could be walked or just played in the car. So much wisdom and validation for slow running.
