Welcome to the final week of Mayโs Quest! Howโs it been going for you? Have you been flying along or pausing for recovery? I wonder if weโve got any HU10 finishers? Iโm hoping to do mine in the next few days.
Iโve still been suffering with cold. Iโve run three times but shorter and slower than usual. I might have been better resting and getting back to normal faster. Hey ho! We live and learn. Iโve enjoyed some podcasts because Iโve been doing easy runs rather than speed work which needs more concentration. My favourite thought of the week turned up on the Strength Running Podcast about ultra running and strength training. I canโt remember why I picked that one since Iโm a long way from running ultras, but I enjoyed it a lot. Near the end, they were talking about the concept of having โearned your workoutโ, meaning that all your training has put you in the position of taking on your run. That really resonated with me. Itโs a total privilege to stand at the start of a 10k run with the expectation of actually finishing it! Thatโs come from loads of hard work and Iโve absolutely had to earn being in that position. Itโs easy to lose sight of that and just be focussed on whatโs next. So maybe you lovely Questers can share what your hard work has earned you the right to take on this week!
My main quest goal was to get back on track with strength and thatโs happened. My legs didnโt thank me with some killer DOMS but I know itโs worth it for staying pain free on the runs. This week, Iโll be doing the HU10k (possibly run walking) and running three more times. Maybe even a speedy one if Iโm feeling like it but thatโll be a bonus rather than a goal. I really need a swim! That might even be in the sea with a holiday next weekโฆ
So Questers, whatโs your last week on this quest going to look like? I hope whatever youโre up to, itโs a good one!

For any newbies, hereโs what itโs all about:
What is the Quest?
The aim of the Quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.
The Quest takes one calendar month. You can join at any point during that time.
You need to be a C25K Graduate before joining the Quest. The reason for this is that pre-graduation your week is very much structured according to the C25K programme, and I wouldn't want the Quest to interfere with that.
Most popular goals are:
โ To run three times a week
โ To slowly increase distance
โ To train for a specific race
โ To add strength and flex exercises to your weekly routine
This is a personal challenge, so it's completely up to you! If you want to join, all you have to do is comment below with something like: โI would like to join the questโ, or, โcount me in! I would like to...โ
Any questions, just ask! Come and say hi!
