Hi can anyone recommend any running shorts for a male that have a zipped pocket on the back that can accommodate an Iphone ?

I use these from Amazon .Zipped side pockets.

Find them very comfortable.

I also have a similar pair from Decathlon but find these better for me .

Hi Chriled63 , my top tip for anyone wanting running wear with pockets is to look at trail running clothing. It's generally designed to carry more stuff, hence more and often bigger pockets!

This is what I have. The only difference is that I put the phone at my tummy, as that's the largest pocket in the shorts or leggings.

I do have a belt pocket too, for when I'm not wearing trail stuff.

The trail shorts from Decathlon have three layers: a mesh gusset, inner tight shorts and a loose outer short. You can wear them without underwear.

In winter I have to wear a "modesty" layer of running undies under my running leggings.

I use a belt like this: amazon.co.uk/Gritin-Running...

Only £5 from amazon. With pockets on shorts you can find your phone moves around as you run unless there is a tight fit. This belt can hold your phone and keys (not much else) and it works for me.

Not to mention the increased likelihood (inevitability?) of the downward journey shorts want to go on with weight in their pockets...

Actually, I don't find that happens with the trail shorts.

Not really answering your question, but I spent some time looking for shorts that would carry a phone without feeling uncomfortable for running. I gave up and bought a "FlipBelt" instead. No regrets. You don't even notice that you are wearing it. It carries phone easily and safely. It has an attached elastic with hook to secure your keys, that are also stowed in one of it's pockets. I thoroughly recomment them to any runner.

One thing you might consider if you sweat as much as me when running is putting the phone in a sandwich bag. You can still use it through the clear plastic, but it's protected from your natural moisture.

Me too, although I do it to protect the phone from rain :)
