Tim’s run in North Somerset

When I was thinking about which run to do in memory of Tim, I knew it had to be one which would make me smile. That had to be a speed run today. There’s nothing like belting down a lane, feet flying and feeling absolutely free to bring on a massive grin. Tim once told me that my progress from c25k in January to a HM in October was testament to the supportive community here encouraging people to progress in an appropriate way. He was brilliant at both telling people to slow down and also to keep going! The joy he had from running was obvious and he helped me get to where I am right now (tired but happy!). He will be missed here.

I kept running. I kept smiling. 🏃‍♀️ 🏃‍♀️ 🏃‍♀️

It’s one of so many! It just shows how much of a force for good Tim was on here. Just so happy to be part of it. He’ll be missed.

Thanks! This has been a a favourite place to walk for a long time and since I started running, it’s a favourite place to run. It’s hilly which is a challenge but there are deer and there’s coffee and cake! There’s always a smile to be found here. even if it’s through the rain.

Ooo a speed run always widens the grin doesn't it? A good tribute to Tim

Definitely! There’s that moment (or many of those moments!) when it’s hideous and you think you can’t go on but you keep running and then it’s brilliant and you just want to go again. Biggest smiles. I’d never have got to do this sort of run without the support here. Tim was a top virtual run buddy. We will all miss him.

Thanks, it was a great one. I felt like I’d earned my coffee/cake and had some lovely thinking time in a lovely place. It’s such a privilege to be able to enjoy running and so much of that is down to the support on here.

His joy was obvious, you're so right. I hope Tim's family will be able to share all these messages. In days to come they will find much comfort in knowing that the time he committed to this forum has made such an impact on so many people. ❤️

Fantastic! Oh yes, a speed run really does make you smile, doesn't it? Usually an ear to ear grin for me, but most definitely not conversational pace! 😁

MissUnderstandingAdministratorGraduate10 in reply to Birdlady64

Absolutely! I’ve gone back and read the original Tim’s run post and I’m a little embarrassed that I totally missed that the runs would be better kept conversational. I finished with a good chunk of slow, steady, conversational paced running to take in the lovely surroundings and think about the support Tim gave to me personally and others here. What I remember most was the advice to stick with in what’s appropriate for the stage of running you’re at and I definitely managed that today!

Brilliant! I’m rubbish at speed runs…but I could imagine myself hurting down that lane with you 😊🏃🏻‍♀️💨⭐️

MissUnderstanding profile image
MissUnderstandingAdministratorGraduate10 in reply to LottieMW

Thanks!! I think my “speed run” should come with the disclaimer that it’s just relative to what I normally run at! I don’t think I’m objectively very fast but I have accidentally scared a few people coming round blind corners. Normally I just get some bemused looks from the cows along my route!

😂

I’ve done some NRC speed runs as part of the NRC10k…I’m sure that those runs are *slower* than usual! 🤣🙄🤦🏻‍♀️
