Hello November Questers, how did your 3rd week go?, the highlight of my week was at Dunfermline parkrun when I got a PB, that made me very happy, I also ran a 5K around the park near to where I live on Wednesday. Just a reminder of what Quest is. 1:-To run 3 times a week, 2:-to slowly increase the distance, 3:-train for a specific race and 4:-add stretch and strength exercises to your weekly routine, I wish everyone all the very best on their last week of November Quest, I have enjoyed hosting it this month, by the way this Sunday is the Sunday that many here on all the forums are going to run ".Tims Run" in memory of the late great IannodaTruffe who sadly died on the 2nd November, I intend to run my first Half Marathon and dedicate the run to Tim
November Quest week 4: Hello November Questers... - Bridge to 10K
November Quest week 4
Hi Al, my questing this month hasn’t been brilliant but it’s been better than previous months! I managed a couple of runs and swims last week and hopefully will do the same this week. Dexy5 and I are planning a run for Iannoda Truffe at the weekend as well we’ll done on your HM - I hope it goes well! Thanjpk you for hosting the Quest in November!
Hello AlMorr and fellow questers. Congratulations on your parkrun PB and good luck for your half marathon on Sunday in memory of Tim. I'm still on the IC with a sprained ankle unfortunately and haven't completed any of my quests apart from taking rest days!
1) NO - run at least 3 times a week - haven't run at all
2) NO - continue with garmin coach HM training plan for race in November
3) NO - finish HM race in November. Couldn't make it to the start line!
4) NO - do at least 2 cross training session a week - haven't done anything as don't want to put any weight on my bad foot
5) NO - run at least 2 new parkruns to tick off my alphabet challenge - haven't run any
6) YES - have at least 1 rest day a week. Had 7!
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I will recover by the end of the month as I'm really missing my running 🙁 Good luck with the last week
Thanks Jogger22, sorry about your injury, I just hope that you recover soon and you will be able to run and do a monthly Quest as soon as you fully recover from your sprained ankle.
Congratulations on your PB at Dunfermline parkrun Al. And very best of luck for your HM attempt in memory of Tim. You will smash it I'm sure. I will be running as well in his memory but probably a 10k for me.I'm still ticking along following a fall in the woods which left me with a dinner plate sized bruise and duck egg sized lump on my left hip. Despite that I managed a very muddy 4 mile trail run on Sunday which was hard work but great fun!
Hia! I feel my quest went really well this month! I needed to get slowly back to regular running and rowing, after my calf strain and I think I’m there!
This last fourth week of my quest I
✅ ran (jeffing intervalls ) 3 times per week
✅ rowed 5 times per week
✅ added regular yoga (5 times this week)
✅ and added 2 upper back dumbbell workouts!
So pretty chuffed, and I’m really liking the jeffing bit!
Planning a jeffed Tim‘s run on the weekend! I’ll meet you all on Tim‘s run!
I’ve looked back and my quest for last week was to walk three times and recover well from covid. I’m pleased to report that I’m feeling much better. I’ve walked pretty much every day and I’ve actually managed to get out a couple of times for 6k runs. Yesterday’s was just great. I went out in the rain with minimal tech and got absolutely drenched. Epic fun. Ended up flying down a trail with a massive grin and finally feeling more like myself again. I’m going to aim for three runs this week and see how that goes.
Well done on your parkrun PB. I’m still on a total of one parkrun total so that’s my PB be default! I’m hoping to beat that before Christmas. Good luck for your Sunday HM. You’ve been so close before that I’m sure you’ll nail it. Thanks for the reminder about Tim’s run. I’ll be running too-not sure where or how far but I will be smiling.
By walking pretty much everyday you have walked, not 3 times but 6 times, well done MissUnderstanding, I am so happy that you have recovered from Covid, even better that you ran 6K yesterday and despite getting drenched you actually enjoyed the run, not my idea of a epic run, I prefer dry weather but if rain does start during the run I just keep on running until whatever the distance I intended to run is completed.
Thanks for wishing me well on my HM on Sunday, I have ran/walked that distance twice, however, the first time was mainly walking with only a few short two minute runs, the second time was just about 3 weeks ago when I ran 20.59K as a extension to a 10 mile run, so hopefully this Sunday (usually my long walking day) I will complete a half marathon.
Congratulations on the PB AlMorr !
My questing has sort of fizzled out this week. Only one run in the last week, no Parkruns, nothing longer than 5km. Oh well, there's always next month.
On the plus side, so far so good haven't injured myself. It was pretty muddy and uneven in places when I went out this morning and at least once I felt my foot slipping away but something kicked in and the rest of me didn't follow
I am still thinking about the Southend Rudolph Run, I'm going to leave it until the end of the month and check the weather. As long as it's dry on the day I'll do it!
Happy Questing everyone
At least you got out and had a good run, 5K is better than nothing at all or sitting on the couch, you still have plenty of time to consider running that Rudolf Run.
Hi Al and fellow questersCongratulations on your Parkrun PB and good luck for your HM on Sunday. I'll be dedicating my short run on Sunday to Tim, originally I was going to do my 10k but I've got family visiting now so I've got the 10k done already.
After a bit of a dodgy 2nd quest week, I've found week 3 has been much better. My quest for November was ..
*To run two 10ks. I ran my second on Sunday so a big ✅ for that one
* Improve leg strength through various exercises .... Hmm .. well I have been doing a variety of yoga and Pilates and some squats but I've not really been concentrating on legs. But I'm pleased to get back on into trying to do some type of daily exercise. So half a tick I think 😊
Hi Al,I think my quest last week was run while further north, I did that, but injured my left quad so haven't run today, my quest for this week is to run on Sunday in memory of Tim and all the encouragement and good advice he gave us
Well done to you on running further north but I am sorry that you injured your left quad, I hope it heals soon so that you can run in memory of Tim on Sunday, I certainly agree with you that Tim gave good encouragement and advice to all of us here on B210K and the other forums.
Hello Al, I’m afraid I fell by the wayside in a month that went far too fast. But thank you for keeping the Quest going during this time. Despite not reporting back, I mainly kept up my running.
🔥 Continue 3 runs a week - not quite due to all that rain but I managed 9 runs in November
🔥 Increase distance of one run ready for a 10k race in December - yes, I ran an 8k and a 10k so I’m sure the race will be fine
🔥 Attend a pilates session every week - yes I’ve finally got back into the weekly routine
🔥 Run at least 1 tourist parkrun, and attempt a parkrun PB at home. Yes a brilliant meet up at Severn Bridge parkrun with lovely running buddies and an increase in speed at home but not yet a post pandemic PB.
I think you did very well for your November Quest Dexy, the weather at times was very bad and you living at the coast got the full blast of the gale, in Shipping Forecast terms, South West, gale force 8, all that shingle, pebbles and even seaweed on your parkrun course wouldn't help your runs at all.I am happy that you are back at your pilate sessions every week, onwards and upwards 🏃🏾 👍
