Hi my lovely Quirky Questers, I do hope you are all seeing this final week in well...I know, I know a few of you are on the IC...I am sorry to hear this but me and my remaining questers will be taking you out with us in our runs this week as we draw this month to a close. I have absolutely loved being Quest Queen this month and although Oldfloss is a hard act to follow you have all been fantastic, supporting each other and me and helping each other along with their own quest, you have made me feel so welcome, the love for each other is shining through...I have loved reading all about where you are on your own quests...so let's just keep it going this week, before chaos descends!!! Finding time to run in December will no doubt be tricky for some of us so let's have a lovely last week of no pressure runs...let's enjoy just getting out there...I am keeping to my plan with 3 sometimes 4 runs a week...but most of all I am enjoying myself and I hope you are too so let us know how you're doing and what you're aim is for this week...

What is the Quest?

The aim of the Quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.

The Quest takes one calendar month. You can join at any point during that time.

We ask that you are a C25K Graduate before joining the Quest. The reason for this is that pre-graduation your week is very much structured according to the C25K programme, and we wouldn't want the Quest to interfere with that.

Most popular goals are:

★ To run three times a week

★ To slowly increase distance

★ To train for a specific race

★ To add Stretch and Strength exercises to your weekly routine

The Quest is a personal challenge, so it's completely up to you!

Happy running everyone and thank you again for making my first job as ambassador such a pleasure...you are all amazing and don't you forget it xxx

Still on the case...still three times a week...not getting the long runs in yet...But!

I will be starting my HM training, proper in a week's time...along with a few others...so I will have to get organised!

The weather has been interesting for runs over this quest...either fog...freezing fog..or torrential rain! I would really enjoy a few more dry, crisp days.

On I go..and wish everyone happy, safe runs and for anyone on the IC..a swift recovery.x

You re doing amazing with your quest Oldfloss ...where has that snail gone that I used to know?! I agree with you about the weather, I am also longing for a lovely crisp day too instead of the soggy leafed ones! I am sure your HM training will go well, we’re all looking forward to seeing your progress x

Buddy34 , how good does it feel when run I g goes better than we think? That def keeps us going out of of the door...even in the worst of weathers! I hope you got your 9k in yesterday? I’m aiming for an 8k today as part of my plan but I’ve got decorators in the house so I can’t disappear for too long...and it’s way too dark at night to disappear off for an 8k so I’ll have to see...keep your fingers crossed for me 😊

I completed my quest last Saturday by running a 13K Mountain Race. I loved it and was sore for a few days afterwards. I was away with work earlier in the week so only ran on Thursday evening. I’m going out this morning to my local parkrun to run it in the T-Shirt I got from the race last weekend. I’ll proudly wear it.

Hi damienair ...I loved reading your mountain race post...it sounds like you and your sister had an absolute ball! And your bling was fab! I hope you wore your tshirt with pride! Well done x

Thank you so much. I wore my T-Shirt with pride at parkrun on Saturday morning. I wore my new base layer too and they worked a treat

I am feeling pretty good as we go into the final week as my active minutes are in the bag this week, I have caught up on my swimming and running goals and am on track with the yoga practice, depending on what to think about the nature of the classes I have done as well as my personal practice. I did one actual movement based class last week and I think if I do another one or two this week I shall be well enough pleased... I've done plenty of yoga nidra class (ie lying down with my eyes closed and not moving)

Good luck everyone!

Go you..I love that last Yoga one..it appeals!

MummycavAdministratorGraduate10 in reply to GoogleMe

Well done GoogleMe , those are excellent goals to have achieved! Let’s hope you’re as active this week...and also get some of those nidra classes In again...lying down and not moving with my eyes closed, now that I could live with! 😂 x

Hi Mummycav you sound like you're having fun. I've grabbed 5 minutes to type this. No injury but I'm having a short sabbatical . Last weekend we put an offer in for a house close to mummytobe which was accepted. We've spent frantic 7 weeks painting and decorating the inside of our house , yesterday we moved out to tackle our 0.4 acre garden ready for marketing before Christmas. I did fit 2 of my week 5 runs in. Garmin pinged goal this morning to say I'd reached 600 active minutes this week. I dont have enough energy to keep running and manage garden. I'd burned 1000calories by 1030 today. I will be back to running really soon. Keep happy everyone . Love and best wishes 💕

Edit - thank you Bike_and_Run , he’s going to be my virtual runner while I garden 😉👍

Oooo, Grannyhugs ...you have been very busy! Life does take over sometimes but it will make your next run, when you manage it, all the more sweeter! Good luck with everything x

After hubby and I spending 33man hrs in 3 days in garden I got out for 5k duty run yesterday. It felt really like duty. So I'm planning new route and found an old skiing playlist to try to recover a little of my love of running which has been missing for a while now. Surviving on 4 or 5 hrs sleep really not helping. Onwards 🏃‍♀️

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate10 in reply to Grannyhugs

Ooo, Granny....be good to yourself, that's not enough sleep for all the energy youre using at the moment...you need a good recharge...like a Duracell battery!!!

Grannyhugs profile image
GrannyhugsGraduate10 in reply to Mummycav

I think the problem is I have an inbuilt Duracell battery but I've lost sight of the off switch 😥 must look harder for it. Body lies down, heart rate goes totally to sleep mode, brain goes - brilliant, nothing else to do, let's start pushing random thought in. More headspace meditation needed methinks. 😉

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate10 in reply to Grannyhugs

Oh I know exactly what you mean Grannyhugs ...as soon as I go to bed that's when my brain starts doing most of it's thinking!! Grrrr, it's so annoying I've tried everything from relaxing music to thunder storms!! I've had my bedroom done too so it's lovely and calm but alas that hasn't worked either!! Then, when I'm tired, I start sneezing!!!! This has only started happening over the last 12 months, god knows why...but then I'm conscious that I'm keeping Daddycav awake who has to go to work...and I can't sneeze quietly, the whole house rumbles when I sneeze!! So I end up going downstairs, taking some anti-histamine and waiting for it to pass which can take a couple of hours!! Phew...what are we like? how do we get through a day on next to zero sleep?? We can only do our best Granny x

Grannyhugs profile image
GrannyhugsGraduate10 in reply to Mummycav

A very common problem. I keep telling hubby he steals my sleep, he sleeps through all my nocturnal wanderings and can even sleep for an hour in front of tv then go straight to bed for a further 8hrs uninterrupted sleep. Men maybe dont solve all the problems of the world every night. Take care, sleep well, run happy

Well, I did it, managed 10 miles last week on a lovely dry crisp morning...apart from an unexpected 1K or so of a wet, muddy hill (I'd convinced myself the new route I'd taken was flat then down hill for the last couple of miles!) which was certainly a challenge, it went well and at 1hr 55 minutes it wasn't a bad time...certainly put a smile on my face for the rest of the day! 😊

I gave myself Tuesday's run off as my legs were still feeling it and I didn't want to risk an injury, then got back out there for 5K on Thursday which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Going to take it easy for this final week, maybe 8K or so as my long run, before I start on Roseabi's Half Marathon plan in December to keep me out running over the winter😳...I may regret signing up for that one 😆🤞🏃‍♀️

Hi MC

I’ve been focusing on Abi’s Speed Challenge on the other forum, but dragged myself onto the treadmill at the gym on Tuesday and knocked off 1.5k at 13 kph (4’36”/k) as part of a 5k trot. So monthly target achieved✅, will be trying to stretch out to 2k next month.

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate10 in reply to UpTheStanley

Brilliant UpTheStanley ...you will be a blur at those speeds!!

I'm supposed to do a 9km today but I have a stomach bug. I'll see how I feel later. I had two slowish 5kms this week as I'm practising Chi Running. I'm doing a running workshop next weekend. I'm dong my wall squats and exercises for my knee daily. I volunteered again at park run yesterday - it is very good fun. And I've tentatively signed up for a Half Marathon - Argh!

Bluebirdrunner profile image
BluebirdrunnerGraduate10 in reply to

Hope you are feeing better Paula, 9k is a long run when your off colour🤔

You are keeping busy, running and strength exercises and Parkrun volunteering!

AND a HM on the cards...woo hoo! that's exciting news... Go you👐😊

Rooting for you..😊xxx

in reply to Bluebirdrunner

Thanks bluebird. That 9km was long, in the rain. My knee started to ache at 8km but I kept going as it was quicker. I don’t know if it’ll survive the HM training. What are you up to ? 🤗

Bluebirdrunner profile image
BluebirdrunnerGraduate10 in reply to

Hope your knee is ok, Paula. x

I'm just back from my physio appointment. Yes, it is my plantar facia which I have hurt, probably by rolling a ball under my foot... part of my foot strengthening video..😫 Ho hum. My foot is taped now and I've had some ultrasound on it.

Rest for two more weeks !! 😶 Ice etc.

My achillies is doing well though!

You will all have to run for me... as long as your knee is ok.

😊xxx

in reply to Bluebirdrunner

You sure have had a run of it bluebird. Blooming heck. You injured it while trying to heal your last injury. 🙄 I hope it doesn’t take too long to get back to normal. I have a physio appointment on Friday for my knee. We are a pair of old crocks 😉

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate10 in reply to

Aw Paula, sorry to hear you're not 100%..it can really take it out of you too so be kind to yourself. At least you're getting your stretching in...that will probably use up all your energy reserves. You are braver than me signing up for a half!!!

MC, you have been a FABULOUS Quest Queen 😍😍😍

My 'yoga for cyclists' vid earlier this week was good, but it felt like it should really be done after the cycle ride. I had a ride planned for Friday, but hey, the weather was AWFUL on Friday!!! So I waited until today (Sunday) for my ride. Just a gentle 10K - I want to build up my distance slowly in the hope that my lower back will acclimatise 🤔😊.

Afterwards, I ended up doing two yoga videos, the first one was new and I found it nice, but a bit slight - no pigeon pose! 😲

youtu.be/uhF5_Ds21TI

So I repeated the one from earlier in the week, and so ended up with almost half an hour of yoga 😊

youtu.be/6nI6ddJlh68

My back got pretty sore on the bike, so the yoga was most welcome!

Have a great week, MC and all!! xxx

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate10 in reply to roseabi

Thank you SOOOOOOO much roseabi ...I have enjoyed being part of everyones plans and love that everyone are so supportive of each other!! I don't think I could do that pigeon pose thing even if I were a pigeon!!! I have got such a busy week this week having 2 bedroom decorated, the house feels like it upside down and I'm running (not literally) backwards and forwards from the decorator centre!! I have decided that my children have too many TOYS!!! And lego??? Well, I could probably rebuild my house I it we have that much!!! So my planned run for yesterday which was supposed to be 8k just fell by the wayside so i'm going to try and squeeze it today...it's not raining at the moment so hopefully it will stay that way untill I can get out!! You will be like elastic if you keep up all these yoga moves!! x

roseabi profile image
roseabi in reply to Mummycav

Lol, actually I'm not sure that pigeons could do that pose! Very odd.

Thank you for the quest, it's definitely helped me remember to do these workouts - and I've been enjoying them so much I will continue!

Good luck with the decorating and decluttering - much like with a run that you don't fancy because of the weather, hang onto the thought that it'll feel lovely when it's finished! 😊😊😊

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate10 in reply to roseabi

That is so true roseabi , theres nothing like a good clear out!! I know my head will be ready for one by the end of the week!! x

Thanks again Mummycav for keeping us accountable and running! We love your Quest Posts.

I have loved my consolidation runs in Canada even though I have covered less distance than planned due to snow, ice & altitude. However I hit one magical 5.6k 😆

I return home on Tuesday/Wed so hopefully a good long run tomorrow & then a couple of jelagged 😳runs Thurs & Saturday.

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate10 in reply to Annieapple

Thank you Annieapple ...I know from experience that joining a quest can start off enthusiastic but by the time week 3 comes around, life has taken over and our missions can soon go out of the window, but at least if we keep coming back onto the quest post we can see how each other are doing and if it's a little motivation we need then I'm sire we'll find it here...if not, we can always cheer the others on as they strive to reach their goals. My running this week hasn't even started because the week started yesterday so busy but hopefully I can get on track today. I hope you manage to get your long run in today or tomorrow as planned x

I made my Quest target of getting to 10k before the end of November, so thank you for the extra push of being signed up for Questing. Reading everyone’s posts reminds me to keep moving along! Thanks for all you do! 🎉👏🏼🎉

MummycavAdministratorGraduate10 in reply to Granspeed

Hi Granspeed , I am sure you will reach your target...you have a few days left...tell you what, if you do a 10k then so will I??? hows that??? My next run should be an 8k but I am sure I can find another 2 just for you xx

Granspeed profile image
GranspeedGraduate10 in reply to Mummycav

I see now that I was not clear: I’ve done it! (That lets you off any hook🤣). I managed the 10k last week, so am feeling cheerful, especially as I had sun & now we have wind and frequently lashing rain. Roll on spring, I say, but meanwhile keep running! 😄😊🎉

Oh I've re-read it...and its clearer now...so well done...and I might still push for that 10k this week x
