Dark and colder than of late. I might need to find a hat to run in as my ears were cold. The rest of me warmed up pretty quickly and I did a mild variation of the run I’ve done the last couple of Thursdays. The change was not to run down the dark road which has got roots along its paths which is a combination liable to end in a twisted ankle. Instead I carried on an extra street and ran down a wide and brightly lit more major road. More traffic lights to stop at. But more light. Win some, lose some. I even had enough left in the tank to play with some fartlek lamppost intervals during the last kilometre or so.

Sounds perfect, love the fartlek lampposts at the end, I did that but called them intervals, I love a 6k

Hi  TimeInNature , as well as a hat, it might be worth getting a head or chest torch, so you can more easily see and be seen. They don't have to be expensive or super-powerful when they're being used just for extra light,, and you might even get a Black Friday bargain! 😀

good call Cmoi

I have a reflective gilet which I picked up recently which I think is helping making me visible. I keep coming back to this as well provizsports.com/en-gb/refl... 🤣

I do have a head torch for GoodGym tasks but haven’t tried running in it yet. I’ll give it a go.

Last year I ran a couple of times literally lit up like a Christmas tree - woolly hat with Xmassy motifs and flashing LEDs!

I have little lights that fit on the laces or heels of my shoes.. that may help with tree roots and they are very visible to anyone front or back of you!

Hat is a definite with me, anyway.. and Buff !

Well done you...

Sounds like a really great run!

I’m also thinking about how to adapt for the darker weather. Haven’t done a running winter yet. I absolutely love my head torch. I don’t know if you run with headphones but I recently upgraded to some Shokz so I can hear traffic much better. That helps with knowing when to make myself especially visible to them.

It’s easy to make a Christmas list as a runner, isn’t it!!

my Christmas list is looking particularly healthy this year for sure 🤣

I don’t run with headphones on my night runs at the moment so I can hear what’s going on around me. The Shokz seem interesting. Working well for you?

Absolutely love them and wish I’d invested earlier. I thought the sound quality was bad on my first run with them and then realised I was also hearing the wind! I wouldn’t use anything else now.

I find my head just gets too hot so I wear a headband / buff around my head to cover my ears. Result is no cold ears but steam can still escape through top of my head.
