This morning, I have to share with you, the incredibly sad news of the death of our dear friend and fellow runner, known to so, so many as IannodaTruffe, but whose name was, Tim.
Yesterday afternoon, at home, Tim died, peacefully and surrounded by his loving family.
There is a famous quotation, stating that, the good men do is lost with them when they die; this is not true for Tim.
Hugely respected and well loved, Tim has been a constant, reassuring presence on the forums and during his years here, his words have reached and touched the lives of hundreds of runners. His sound advice, his supportive comments, his calm approach to any question asked, has, quite literally, changed lives, changed them for the better.
Tim will not be forgotten, his good, will be carried in us, with us and be shared by us, for years to come.
We shall move forward, in the way that Tim encouraged us to, with the familiar words he used at the end of all his posts in our hearts, we shall indeed...
...Keep Running, keep smiling.

That is such sad news Oldfloss , but not totally unexpected as Tim wrote what I considered to be his last wonderful post a few weeks ago, to prepare us for this moment. I was so pleased that he gave us the opportunity to thank him personally for the brilliant work he did for HealthUnlocked and these running forums, and I hope those replies helped him as he entered palliative care.
What I loved about Tim as a mentor was his straightforward replies; he definitely said it as it was. I will never forget when I posted that I had run on a treadmill in the gym of a hotel in the New Forest. He came back immediately “You are in the New Forest! Why are you not running outside in the beautiful countryside ?” He was totally right of course and whenever I run along forest paths there now, his words come back to me.
I thank Tim for the posts he has written , which will continue to be a source of information for everyone who starts this running journey. I thank his family for allowing him to spend what precious time he had left to continue to do this. My sympathies go to them as they have lost someone very special.
Firstly my heartfelt sympathies to Tim’s family and friends. The world has lost a special person.
I felt like I knew him, but of course I didn’t. His posts were always so heartfelt, honest, funny and true.
His words of advice have helped so many people on their running journeys. Indeed I wonder if I would still be running if it weren’t for his reply after I picked up a calf injury very early on in my first attempt at c25k. Thank you Tim. 🙏 My next run I dedicate to you.
He gave so much of himself to all of us and his words of wisdom will live on to encourage, advise and inspire the generations of runners to come.
I’m so, so sorry to read this. As you know I’m not on here anymore but I still get the odd email. Tim gave me and everyone, such encouragement and well respected, trusted advice, that I still carry with me today even though I don’t run anymore. The time and kindness he took out of his daily life to help out new runners was really so appreciated and not forgotten. My C25k experience will stay with me for life and so will the support he and you all gave me xxx
My condolences to Tim's family. I always looked for his responses to anyone's questions, as they were so helpful to so many more of us than just the person asking. The good he did with those posts will definitely continue to influence my running, fitness and thinking into the future.
Very sad indeed. Never met Tim in person, only exchanged some messages over the years and felt really close to him, his views and his experience. I felt he was a friend. Brilliantly introspective with a great dry sense of humour and being deeply, deeply human!
So long man and happy heavenly running, I'll see you around when it comes to it.
So sorry to hear of the passing of Tim, he was the No. 1 expert on these forums, he wrote the best advice to all us runners, especially the new ones, deepest condolences to his family, I loved his motto "Keep running, keep smiling" which I will certainly do, RIP Tim.
This is such sad news for all of us but must be devastating for Tim's friends and family.
As for so many of you, it was his wisdom and advice that got me through the difficult days of C25K. I'm another one who was 'getting to the end of a sentence in one breath'. It must have been so difficult for him when he had to stop running a few months back, but he still carried on in the way only he could, giving advice and encouragement. Reading his last few posts I was hoping for a miracle but sadly this was not to be.
Please pass on my very deepest sympathies to his family Oldfloss . There aren't many like Tim and he will be sorely missed.
So sorry to hear this. Thoughts go to Tim’s family and friends whilst I did not know Tim personally I had a few responses to posts from him like I guess most of us did on this forum. He will be missed by most of us. RIP Tim.
That is so very sad. I was so moved by his last post on here that I delayed responding and strangely was thinking of him today. He was a great encourager. Early on in my C25K journey I posted excitedly after I had run for a whole 20 mins when away on business in Germany. Almost immediately he came back with words of congratulation and the words "well done fellow runner" . I will never forget that.
Very sad news, RIP Tim. Thank you for your encouragement, thank you for your wise counsel, and thank you for helping this lump leave the couch and become a runner. Sleep well, you are a legend.
Very sad news. Tim has been a great support to many of us over the years and his contributions will be missed. I hope it is of comfort to his family to know he helped so many of us on this forum, as I am sure he also did in real life.
Thank you OF for letting us know about Iannoda Truffe, I’m so sorry to hear about his death. His wise words to newbie C25K runners have been inspirational to me and so many others and I know he will be greatly missed. My condolences to his family and his HU Admin family as well.
Tim’s last post on here moved me to tears. He will be very greatly missed. He was clever, kind, generous, unsentimental. What a loss. Thank you to his family for sharing him with us.
Such Sad News. I knew Tim only through this Forum where his wise words and motivation were immense in helping me plus countless others to achieve that "impossible" 5K.
Tim's family can be proud at his achievements helping so many in their pursuit of fitness with fun. Thank You and RIP Tim
