Nice numbers!

After a busy weekend and a lazy Monday today was run day. It was a bit grim and gloomy outside so I decided against shorts and vest and wore capri pants and a t shirt. Stepping outside it felt distinctly cold. My husband asked me how we ever managed to run when the temperature was below zero. I reminded him - hats, gloves thermals ;)

We decided to keep it short, just 3km. Within 5 minutes I was warmed up and kind of regretting agreeing to the short run but to compensate I went a bit faster than usual. This meant that by 2.5km I was kind of glad it was nearly over. My heartrate was around the maximum it should be so I tried belly breathing to bring it down. It sort of worked, inasmuch as it didn't go up any higher.

At 3 km I was just under half a km from home, so picked a landmark and decided to stop when I reached it. I couldn't find my running belt this morning and put my phone in the thigh pocket of my trousers instead, so had to slow right down to get it out. Decided I'd better speed up to run to the spot I'd chosen as the finish. Pressed the stop button on the NRC app. My run was 3.17 km. Bother, if I'd stopped a bit sooner it would be 3.14, pi (I'm such a nerd).

My husband had gone on ahead of me and ran a bit further. He was pleased as well, he ran 3.33 km which is a pretty good sort of number too!

NRC tells me I've run 5 weeks in a row which I'm quite pleased about. It also said I'd managed negative splits. Strava says I've set a new record for me for one of the segments of my run. OK, my time is 5 1/2 minutes slower than the fastest woman to run it but she's probably a lot younger than me so I don't care!!

...not that the numbers are important πŸ˜‚

What is a pi distance? numbers aren’t important at all when we run slower or shorter but hey they really get important when we beat our times or run longer so a good run for you

Pi is 3.14 plus a string of decimals so 3.14 km is a п run 😁

I’m going to have to do some research

Here's Wikipedia's explanation of pi SueAppleRun : The number Ο€ is a mathematical constant that is the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter, approximately equal to 3.14159.

This is of absolutely no use to me in real life other than baking, when it basically means you need a longer strip of marzipan than you'd think to go round a cake.

We’ll I never thought about the Christmas cake πŸŽ‚ πŸ˜€, I asked my granddaughter who is a maths genius and she explained it in a similar way then said tell them you’ve done an i run πŸ˜‚which of course I had to look up.

п is also useful for working out whether 2 six inch pizzas give you more pizza than one 12 inch pizza 😁

True, but you also have to take into account the price of the different-sized pizzas and who wants to eat which flavour!🀣 πŸ•πŸ˜‹

I like it when my runs are pi runs too! I never realised anyone else paid attention. I had a g run the other day of 9.81 km. That pleased me greatly!
