Running in Wales.

I’m in mid-Wales on a cycling break with my Women only cycling club. It is very hilly but we are spoilt with amazing views and beautiful weather.

A few of us had half a plan to do parkrun this morning (at Newtown) but it proved to be too complicated to organise transport ( and too hilly to cycle). Instead one lady suggested I join her for a run along the Wales Coast Path. Assuming we weee doing 5k I was a little shocked when she said it would be about 7k, but as it was flat I thought I could manage. Turns out it was just short of 10k !! The route started off on a lovely cinder track but soon became a rough field and then a peat bog with very long grass. It has been a while since I ran on anything but tarmac so I was quickly adapting to picking up my feet and was soon feeling tired. We walked a few stretches and enjoyed the beautiful views on the way to the Estuary where a lift home was waiting Back on the bike tomorrow!

Luvverly photos there Shake-and-run 😊. Well done on a boggy, grassy, pick up feety run! As soon as I saw the word bog, a wave of tiredness came over me, and I’m sitting down at the moment 🤣. Enjoy the rest of your holiday! 😁🏃🏻‍♀️🚴‍♀️

Thanks Frenc, thankfully the ‘bog’ was not wet but very springy, taking all the energy out of each stride (like running on soft sand).

Well done Shake-and-run, you can certainly notch that up as a (not) parkrun. My late father came from the Newtown area of Wales and it really is beautiful . Send my love as you cycle along.

I know that stuff, it’s hard enough to walk on let alone run, well done you!! Shame about the parkrun though. x

Brilliant, sounds like an interesting run. At least you didn’t have too many hills judging by Strava 👍
