Hello Everyone and happy weekend. Today is parkrun day, a free 5K event which takes place every Saturday morning all around the world. It is for everyone, slow, fast, able, disabled, big, small and everyone in between. Oh and don't forget about the super Mum's and Dad's who push their babies in buggies. You can walk, jog, run, run/walk, it's not a race, just a run in the park and loads of us here on Bridge to 10K do it religiously every Saturday morning.
Some of us may not be able to do a parkrun at the moment so until parkrun returns fully for everyone some of us will continue to take part on our own in a Virtual parkrun every Saturday morning called a (not)parkrun. Or if you are away on Holidays, prefer to run on your own, or do not have a parkrun close by you a (not)parkrun is perfect, please feel free to join in.
Please post a little run report after your parkrun or (not)parkrun and let everyone know how you got on. The little run report can be done over a post parkrun coffee and treat/cake. (parkrun is all about the after run coffee and cake, and meeting friends old and new).
If you are a new graduate and would like to start, all you have to do is run, walk or jog at a parkrun or a 5K run/jog/walk (not)parkrun anytime today or tomorrow and write a little run report under this post. It's like a little community and it is good fun, sets you up nicely for the weekend. If you want to you can register on the parkrun website and you can log your 5K (not)parkrun. In fact you can log any 5K done during the week as a (not)parkrun.
For anyone whom has not done a real parkrun yet and if it is available to you, give it a try. It is the most wonderful community event. Saturday mornings will never be the same again.Looking forward to hearing from all of you who ran in real proper parkruns and (not)parkruns. Happy running and have a lovely weekend.

Hubby is getting over a cold & I ran a 12k yesterday on my comeback week so didn’t want to push it. It has been amazing to be able to run this week. I’ve missed it so much.
It was wet & slippy along the foreshore at Park run today but No.2 son came in the top 10 with 21:14. No wipe outs for him although our cocker Willie did nearly take him out as his Dad was taking photographs.
I love watching him run at Park run. I’m going to miss it when I get back to running it. I want to see him make sub 20 so maybe I should wait until he does it. 😍
Think his PB is 20:12 so he is very close. His Dad promised him a new pair of trainers once he gets there. I would be asking for the new trainers to get that sub 20 but maybe that’s a girl thing 🤣
Congratulations to No. 2 son RunWillie, don't push him too hard to get a sub 20 minutes 5K, I am sure it won't be long, who knows he may well represent Australia in the Commonwealth Games in 8 or 12 years.
No run for me this morning. I’m hosting a choir BBQ here later and need to organise things. Sacrificing PR makes life so much easier. Hope you all had great runs. ❤️
Oh brilliant, you will love it. It’s a bit overwhelming before you start but once you’re away it’s the best. Please post when you take part - good luck! 😉
No parkrun running for me for a few weeks as I’ve got long runs and then a music festival. So Timekeeping with eldest kitten today as I have 15 miles to do tomorrow 😬
Youngest kitten marshalled but Katnap ran with his wrist brace on and still managed an impressive 22 mins! He then barcode scanned!!
We had quite a lot of tourists at Stratford today due to people coming here because Birmingham accommodation is full with Commonwealth Games attendees. Over 350 runners in total which is quite high post-lockdown.
The legend of AlMorr at Drumpellier Parkrun with Tasha99 🏴💙 We had a wonderful Parkrun experience meeting up with Alan today in such a beautiful setting. We all had a lovely latte and cake together after. So great to meet you Alan 🙏
I notice on the Drumpellier Parkrun Facebook page there is a very short video of the runners at the start of the run, to be honest I can't see the 3 of us but perhaps if you can slow the video down you may be able to see us.
So, I’ve been trying to do a 35min Parkrun, so I can do the 35 min pacers spot more accurately. Today I just thought I give up and did what my watch said I should be doing, 30min in hr zone 2 then a cool down. So run some, walk some, chat to the tailwalker as I pass them and ridiculously my time is 34:59 wouldn’t you just know it, now if only I can do that when I’m supposed to. No cakes this week but still hot and sunny. Have a good week everyone.
Good morning Damien, what a wonderful morning I had at Drumpellier Parkrun this morning, I met Tasha99 and GTFC and for most of the run we ran together, my time was 30:51, there maybe some photos of the 3 of us somewhere on the forum later.Tasha and GTFC were very kind to me, after the run, they treated me to coffee and cake then took me home in GTFC's car,
We really are inspired by you Alan. A real gentleman and such lovely company. We had a wonderful time. You ran so well today Alan in such a fabulous time. The setting of the Parkrun is absolutely glorious 💙
The Beth Parkrun Tour continues and today we went to Orpington in Kent. It’s also where my husband grew up.
Arrived very early and tried to work out where the start was.
Eventually found a few runners heading to the middle of the field and spotted them setting up.
The route consisted of a lap around a small field then a lap around a bigger field and then repeat. There were some exposed tree roots which was mentioned in the briefing so took that cautiously.
141 Parkrunners in total. It was very warm but ran the whole thing in 35.30. Sadly not really anywhere for a cuppa so we came home.
Hello fellow parkrunners. UpTheStanley and I are are back on the road again today. We took Fenton, the Southsea Bear on a tourist run to Itchen Valley Country Park near Southampton.
A one lap route starting around a grass area and then on a bridle path ( no horses but plenty of 💩) and woodland trails. The course has to be seen to be believed, but was well directed by cheery marshals ringing bells and shaking tambourines, and arrows attached to posts.
It was undulating and I was happy to Jeff in the last few kms, concentrating on avoiding injury rather than speed.
Go-Ape zip wires and walkways were visible as we ran along but was not yet open.
In wet weather this would be one of the muddiest parkruns but today they were more concerned with the grass field breaking up and ankles being twisted.
What fun we had. My first letter I in the Old Macdonald challenge- E- I-E-I-O.
While Dexy5 was in my neck of the woods I was in hers at Lee on Solent parkrun today. One day soon I will make it to Southsea! Had a good run on an almost flat route and got close to my pb - just three seconds away 🤦🏼♀️. Glorious views and sunshine. Will definitely do this one again 🌞😃
I will Dexy. Itchen is tough - all those tree roots and narrow turns. It does get very muddy too when we’ve had rain (whatever rain is - I’ve forgotten 🤣)
Back at my home parkrun this week. Some familiar faces and we chatted catching up on our various adventures. A quiet week for attendance, too. (Just 56.)
A little change was that I was wearing my most minimalist shoes, the KSO EVOs. Just 5mm of rubber and EVA between my foot and the ground.
I did my usual trick of starting near the back of the crowd, treating the first couple of minutes as a warm up, then starting to move up the field.
My intention today was consistent effort like I've been doing in my Garmin plan runs.
I wasn't watching the pace. In fact all I had on the watch face was elapsed time and distance left.
Again, the watch measured the course as being over 5.3km, whereas the phone got it as 4.9km. (My old watch would have measured it at 4.5km.) Different GPS chipsets and a challenging route with tree cover and lots of close together turns.
A wet dog dashed in front of me at one point and I had to do an emergency stop. The owner was most apologetic.
There were parents running with their kids. Kids leaving their parents behind in the dust. We had runners of all abilities.
The usual favourite first finisher held back and did a slow run (for him) of 24¾ minutes. I think I overheard him saying he had a big race tomorrow. First finisher did it in 21'15"
I did something unusual at the end. I found I had plenty left in the tank and floored it, overtaking a group of three guys in the last 100m.
The lady who usually finishes just before me was running with her son and was slower as a consequence. As customary, the kid is encouraged to finish a few seconds in front of the parent.
Unusually, the tail walkers came in a good two minutes after the final runner (a regular volunteer).
Afterwards, I was chatting with a couple who I see there regularly, but hadn't properly talked to before. They were commenting on how they'd never be able to run in the shoes I was wearing.
The results came in before I'd even got back to the car!
Official time: 28'21" Position: 21 of 56
Next week I suspect I'll be back at Pwllheli. I'd better check the tide tables. I fear it's going to be another super high tide.
I'd made a promise to glossop to get there soon so changed from a trip away somewhere flat (probably rother valley) to a more local affair. Last time at glossop was for my 25 milestone so it's been nearly 7 months! Absurd given its only 20 minutes drive away! I'd obviously forgotten how tough the inclines (at glossop we call them speed bumps) are, especially on the 3rd trip round the circuit, even when I was just taking it at a steady plod again. Had some running club friends turn up as well so nice to go round with them and not race off at the start like I sometimes do (you know how running with big crowds gets us all excitable). No idea where to next. Just choosing on the fly each weekend for now but the new event at alderley park is looking excellent so far and I need to find a weekend where we can get loads of the club over for a visit. We all have such busy schedules right now!
Very well done on your parkrun tourism. I nice way to pick your next parkrun is to do a NENDY. Nearest Event Not Done Yet. There is an App called Running Achievements which is worth downloading, loads of parkrun tourist stuff there.
Felt really good this week, isn't it strange how often when you feel good your time is lousy when other times you don't feel up for it at all and you do really well. I went to my 10th park run in Southampton and the weather was really good, a nice cool breeze and good morning sun.
I am really pleased I got another PB. Gutted I didn't quite hit my target but within touching distance now at 30:12. VM45-49.
