An 'all seasons' run/walk

Today was 10k run day and I decided to do a 10k run plus a 10k walk to keep the legs prepared for the HM next weekend.

It was bucketing with strong winds when I woke up this morning and just didnot want to get soaked again. Could not miss the run either as next week I will not be able to run on tuesday due to an event, so that run will need to be postponed to wednesday and then I wont run until saturday!

Texted my sister to check if she wants to run in this weather otherwise I will go on my own. She said she definitely wants to go, she loves rain runs. So, got changed and drove to her place. It had stopped raining by then. Had a cup of tea there and it started spitting by the time we started. A couple of kms down and it started pouring, then stopped, then suddenly clear skies and the Sun shines. In shade it got cold so put the jacket on, the moment u step in the Sun, it got hot. Take off the jacket and it poured! The wind stopped at a point and at some points almost blew me off my feet. The temperature showed 13deg and feels like 9deg. But, my face and hands were so cold, almost numb that when I touched my face, I could not tell if the face is more cold or my fingers!

Finally, after 10k run we started walking. The moment it started pouring again and I started grumbling, my sister pointed to a cafe and said she has heard they make good coffee. So, we decided to cross the road in pouring rain and wind, only to find the place closed.

Just walked to the mall as per the original plan to complete the 10k walk after the 10k run and straight to starbucks for coffee, cinnamon role and walnut maple syrup scone. I am surprised they let us in - all sweaty, half dry, half wet, hair all over the place due to the wind. I was just happy we were out of the rain and my sister was happy she got her coffee & maple walnut scone!

Only one run next week before the big event.

Pretty good going in that wind and rain, well done on running 10 K then walking the same distance, you deserved that coffee, good luck for your HM next week.

Wowsa! Looks great (both route and cinnamon rolls). Here, we’re about to have pancakes for an early/late brunch. But no running today, as I ran yesterday. But those rolls look yummy! 😛🤤

Good luck for your HM! It sounds like you got this!

I had a savoury pancake (I am sure there is a word for it in French) for dinner :)Yep, I like that part of the route for run

CBDB and the only stretch where the weather was perfect for both if us- no sun, no rain and manageable wind.

Probably crèpe. As in Victoria Wood's visit to a crèperie:

I crept in, had a crèpe, then crept out again.

Crepe is mostly sweet, right? I think the savoury ones are called galette?

Not my preferred weather conditions but you've got to do what you've got to do, lol.

Those runs are such a pain where you’re constantly changing your outfit. Well done, and seriously impressive distance too. I heartily approve of your post run coffee and cinnamon roll. They’re me favourites!

Wowee - I thought it was just the UK where we get all the seasons in one day! Though thinking about it NZ(?) is also an island nation so maybe not too dissimilar.

Best wishes for the upcoming race, I'm sure the time will be better than, er, some other times! 😁 (Seriously I'm sure you're on for a PB!)
