Today was a nice gentle 5km. Although we've had rain the ground was firm but the weeds were waist high and full of raindrops, so our shoes and clothes were soon soaked. Luckily it was warm and sunny so I felt thankful I was in shorts not leggings and carried on.
Today I made a special effort to run slowly. This is easier when you're not trying to keep warm, not an issue today.
The NRC app started playing up again. I'd set it for a distance of 5km but after two minutes it told me 'workout stopped/workout restarted'. Uh oh. Stopped the app (while carrying on running), went into settings and switched off automatic stop/start then restarted the app. No more unwanted announcements, but now the messages about distance were all wrong so I vaguely noted the times but relied on my Garmin to tell me how I was doing.
After about three and a bit km I treated myself to a couple of hundred metres running flat out . It always makes me feel invincible but I can't keep it up for long and soon slowed right back down again.
Once my Garmin showed that the 5km was done I paused NRC then pressed the button to end the run. It hung. I looked again a few minutes later and tried to exit but it told me I'd lose the run. I decided to just leave it.
When I sat down to write this (maybe ten hours later) NRC is congratulating me on my longest run to date, 1:23:48, which is a bit weird as my splits were 9'10", 9'23", 8'59", 9'18" and 8'03" for the final 0.60 km. Those numbers don't add up to over an hour. I'll just accept the badge and remember to check my settings before my next run, not during it. Oh, and I got a badge from NRC last week for doing 5 runs. All the palaver with the stop/start problem meant it showed 2 extra runs so maybe it's not all bad 😂
