First ever official run

Ran the Manchester 10k on Sunday and absolutely loved it. Was so nervous beforehand and my only aim was to not stop.. didn’t break any speed records but ran the whole way and so pleased with myself. Couldn’t have done it without the support of this group and everyone whose posts give me the motivation to keep on getting out there. Xx

Well done! 👏👏👏👍🥇🏆🍾🏃‍♀️You were probably excited and nervous at the same time! Hell, was excited this morning and I was running 10K on my own! I’m guessing that once you run in an organised event, you get the bug and want to do more. It must be a great feeling. Oh, and well done for running the whole way.

It was a little strange at first as only ever ran by myself but loved the atmosphere. Thank you x

There’s usually the added advantage of an early bird discount too. 😉

Well done, that first race is so special.

That's fabulous, well done 🥳🏃‍♀️ 🍾 and sounds like you had great fun too which is brilliant! 😊I hope you don't mind me asking, but is the course fairly flat? I've entered for next year and the blurb says it is, but I've seen some comments which indicates it isn't lol!!

Well my daughter who has done lots of runs told me it was…. There are no hills as such but a bit of a gradient coming back into the city centre and then the last 200m to the finish in a little hill. Don’t know who thought that was a good idea 🤣. Seeing as I haven’t much to go off I would say a little hilly but more experience runners would probably say flat. The atmosphere is amazing though and definitely pulls you along. X

Thank you so much for this, it's really helpful. I live in a really flat area so I'm starting to put a bit of hill work in, been avoiding it before, to be honest 😁 That's a bit mean, sticking an uphill in at the end 😳 😄 at the thought of bling tho, I'll crawl up if I have to 😂😂😂 x

Congratulations you’re awesome. I am still working towards running the whole 10k. Got my first official 10k run at Clumber Park on 3 July. I am feeling a mixture of excitement and 😬. Thank you for sharing your post as you have provided me with encouragement and inspiration.
