A Morning of Faffage and Frustration! Oh, and an NRC 15 Minute Recovery run

Well, what should have been a simple operation turned into a nightmare saga !

The plan was a nice easy 15 minutes recovery run following my 8 Mile run of Monday .

But unfortunately the tech gremlins had other ideas

Firstly my watch (which I don't use overnight) refused to power up !

I had to pug it into charge to get it to eventually boot .

This appeared to put the watch into reset mode 🀬🀬🀬

So, never mind , can't be that bad (or can it)

Re entered all my personal data (this was before fitting my contact lenses! πŸ€ͺ)

Then I couldn't get it to pair with my phone (either through Garmin connect or direct using phone Bluetooth settings)

Ahh well, no worries, I'll sort it out after my run as the watch at least was up and running !

So, out of the door!

It was warm so wore just vest and shorts .

The watch got a GPS lock in seconds !

Great I thought .

Started the NRC app, (Silence in the earpods πŸ€”)

Started run on the watch and off we go !

I must have selected it as an unguided run on the app, never mind it's just 15 minutes I can live with that .

I then looked at my watch to see my starting pace only to be presented with unfamiliar data !

The data fields were as axpected but not the numbers 🀬🀬🀬

I think my pace was in "Ferlongs per Fortnight" or some other bizar format !!! 🀣🀣🀣

Anyway to quote a well known saying "I've started so I'll finish"

So just 15 minutes running , my pace feels significantly higher than usual but I can live with it for 15 minutes.

Back home , stretches done and porridge made !

Right let's sort this watch out !

No such luck .

Would not sync to Garmin connect.

After what seemed like forever I decided to delete the watch from my phone , delete Garmin connect then re install

I eventually had a Bluetooth connection and tried to sync with connect .

This took 25 minutes! 🀬🀬🀬

I then decided to delete my run history from the watch as it had almost 2 years of files on there !

And the watch now synch s quickly again !

Phew ! What a pain all that was just for a 15 minute run !

At least all my history is still in Garmin connect and Strava 😁

Hope you all have a better day than I have had so far 😁

Oh, Cmoi does this qualify for your challenge as was all in the radius of 1k as shown in the pic ! 😁

Oh dear, one of those runs... Luckily it was a short one! Well done and hope the tech stops misbehaving before your next run 🀞

How frustrating! All this tech is brilliant - until there’s a problem. Then it costs a lot of time to sort it out. Well done for persevering with the run! And I hope the tech is all sorted now, ready for the next run. πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘πŸ‘

Oh goodness! what’s going on with Garmin? we’ve had terrible trouble, I can only download 7 songs to Willows and after some swearing and cursing I think he’s put off wearing it and mine keeps freezing. Still, you sorted it eventually and got your run in πŸ˜€

Ooooh tech is so naughty - it just likes to remind us from time to time doesn’t it! It would be awful to have lost all of your history. Well done on your 1k radius - I tried and failed this morning. Next challenge - furlongs per fortnight, not sure how that would work! 😊

Thanks Kate !The run was only 15 minutes but the hassle lasted an hour each side !

And yes , furlongs/fortnight is a new pace on my Garmin and at that pace I was never going to get more than 1k away 🀣

Provided that the 1km radius is from your home, then yes, you've done it Instructor57 ! πŸ‘
