In this post, about a month ago, I said I will never do this route again.

Day before yesterday, it was dark & I was tired after almost a 13hr day at work. All I wanted to do was shower & straight to bed. But, I had already had 2 days rest as I didnt run after the parkrun on saturday. So, decided to change, lace up & do a 5k slowest run & leave the 9k run for another day this week.

Just on a whim, thought of taking the same route I really struggled on last time, to see how I get on with it this time because I had already thought of doing a reeeeeally slow run..even by my standards lol.

Well, I completed 5k & continued running to run all the way till home. It was 6.8k as I stopped 500mtrs short for the cool down walk to home.

It was certainly not easy but I was amazed I was not frothing at the mouth either due to being breathless, didnt feel I was dying at anypoint or needed to call 111. Comparing the two runs, the second time I was 30seconds slower at the end of 5k but I could manage to run all the hills even the one closer to my home at the end of the run.

I would like to believe my fitness has improved since I did this route last or may be it is just wishful thinking 🤣

I am not scared of that route anymore, so that is definitely an improvement 😛

I might make it one of my regular routes when I am running alone.

Well done - It could have easier for a variety of reasons…but does sound like you are adapting to the course and getting stronger!🙂💪

Brilliant! Well done, it would've been so easy to just stay away from that route but you didn't, you battled your gremlins and showed them where to go 💪 I bet it feels great to have conquered it. It sounds like a good route to check how your fitness is progressing every so often 😃👏👏👏

It’s hard to run a route that you found difficult and not enjoyable, you smashed it and beat the don’t go there gremlin. Be proud
