My plan for today was to meet an old friend in London at one o'clock. I live in the middle of nowhere so this meant leaving the house at 9.30 to allow time to drop something off on the way, so I had to get my run in early. Well, when I say early I mean before 9. Early for me.
Husband made coffee while I did my warm ups but I decided to wait until I got back before drinking it. We were out of the house just after 8.15. I blame the lack of coffee for forgetting to turn on the run tracking on my Garmin until after I started running. When I finally remembered I really couldn't have been awake as I only pressed the 'running' button once instead of twice, so spent a minute or so staring at it unable to understand why the GPS didn't engage 🙄
The plan was to do a timed 30 minute run, taking 16 minutes on the way out and 14 minutes back, but we decided to run a circular route instead of returning the way we came. The idea was to cover the same distance more quickly in the second half. I tend to speed up naturally once I get going so I was a bit miffed when Mr Yes told me I was supposed to be going quicker. Note to self, don't run hangry lol.
We covered just under 4km in 30 minutes, quite quick for me, then home, breakfast, shower and out of the door before 10. I didn't really expect to leave on time but had allowed myself so much leeway to account for tractors on the road, cyclists, hold ups on the M25 and all the other things that could have slowed me down that I got to lunch half an hour early
Ooh, and I managed negative splits so my other half's encouragement obviously worked but don't tell him that!
