All these accidental runs people keep doing...now I see why.
I went out with the intention of doing my second 8k run, but on my warm up walk to the starting point I decided to set my app at 8.5k and finish at 8 if I needed to.
I went off much too fast so the 2nd and 3rd k were a bit slower. Then I hit my stride and sped up again. 6k was hard (probably because I was going too fast) but then at 7k got my second wind and went speeding off to the end again. Got to 8 and decided I was fine for the 8.5...reached that and thought sod it...I may as well carry on for 9!
So 9k in 1hr. Way too fast and I couldn't have gone another step and can feel it now but proud of myself. Didn't see how I would enjoy running longer distances yet here I am. Loving it!
Just need to book my first 10k race now π

Well Done Saartjie and brilliant write up! I keep saying to people, it'll just kinda happen. No-one believes me until it creeps up on them.
Hope you get your race booked soon!
Keep on running, flying and winning!!! πππ
Well done Saartjie, youβre so close to the finishing line now! ππ
Itβs a great feeling when a run all comes together like that ππ It doesnβt happen every time but that just makes it more memorable. π Keep going now and youβll be there before you know it ππββοΈπββοΈ
Well done Sarah - definitely 10 next week then!! ππ. Iβm not running a long run this week as I have the 10k race on Saturday evening. Iβll do a 4/5k tomorrow then rest.
Good luck with your race! Am so excited to be able to enter a race now...knowing i can actually do it. Never thought I would get to this after only a few months. X
I think if you can keep the pace up then itβs not too fast for you, but you might want to dial it back just a little bit do you have enough for a sprint finish?π
Haha another 'accident'. Top tip for your 10k - eat half a banana an hour before you start. I have never eaten anything before a run before, but that bit of banana lasted me right through my 10k, and I'll never look at a banana the same way again - theyβre miraculous!
Haha! Thanks Mike. I had a pain au chocolat and coffee before this one. Second time I've done that and had a good long run. Must be the sugar and caffeine boost!
Thanks Ripcurlrana71 . Spurred on by my VRBs as usual π€
Well done Saartjie !ππI do accidental runs too although Iβm not back to 9k yet. But mine are like I get to 5.somethingk and think to myself letβs round that up to a nice neat figure hee! hee!. I love itπ€...........Anyway congrats to you and brilliant time!ππ
Brilliant Saartjie!! Well done! ππ»ππ»ππ»ππ» You did great, and are sooo near that 10k now.... Sounds like the perfect time to book a race (or fun run, as Iβm calling them!) πβ€οΈπ
