In the dark winter months I've been running at lunchtime and lately, quite slowly.
The other day I ran in a racing shoe and I was surprised to see my last km was fast by my standards.
This bright spring morning I decided to go out before breakfast, and it was just a very nice run. Since then I've been doing chores and basking in a post run glow. It's lovely to get a run in first thing and then enjoy the endorphin boost it provides during the rest of the day.
My slower speed, I think, was all in the mind; I was on the IC for several weeks in January and ever since I believe I've been subconsciously holding back.
The racing shoe has cured that for me; the combination of super soft foam and the springiness of the carbon plate provides an ideal support and protection for my legs, and has given me the confidence to run at the speed I used to, and overcome my fear of re-triggering my injury.
