As it's nearly my birthday and my shoes were looking a bit tired I decided to treat myself. Just as well, the man in the running shop poked the old ones and told me they'd had it. Only 421 km.
Maybe I'll treat myself to a little run tomorrow....๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ

Only 420km? I get nearly double that before I have to say goodbye to mine.
It might be interesting for you to look where on the sole the greatest wear has happened. That can give a good indicator of where you're landing the hardest.
Mine always wear out most prominently in the left foot's forefoot pad area.
(My current pair probably won't last as long as my previous ones as they came to me part-worn, off eBay.)
In truth I expected them to last a bit longer than this. The shop guy said to consider new shoes after about 400-600 miles so I feel a bit cheated out of 400km of running (400 miles being around 800 km). The main reason I was buying new ones was as a birthday present to myself but when I tried flexing them this morning I was surprised that they nearly bent in half. The area under the ball of my foot was really flexible too which I hadn't expected. When I buy shoes I try to look after them and have had a lot of my 'normal' shoes for 5+ years. The old ones are a bit grubby but the sole isn't particularly worn. I know I'm slightly overweight and that this increases pressure on the foot when I land quite significantly if I remember my basic physics but even so I'm not that big!
On the plus side, new shoes always cheer me up and this means I can use the old ones for walking in, and if I want to go for a short spontaneous run during the walk I can
At the end of the day, if there was a chance that running in those shoes might increase my risk of injury then new ones are money well spent.
All of my running shoes are minimalist and can be bent double. They don't have much padding either.
What might wear out shoes more is if you have a scrubbing motion rather than a "lift and place" gait. This is possibly what caused my first pair of road running shoes to last for less mileage than subsequent ones.
Lovely new shoes ๐คฉ I misread the title of your post and thought you said new shores instead of new shoes. I thought you were off to some exotic destination and was a bit confused when I saw the pic ๐
I've done enough traveling for a little while, no new shores fore me just now ๐
Nice new name โฆ AND love the brooks Iโm a huge fan, I left my old Anthem brooks at my daughters in USA recently and purchased another 2 pairs to bring back with me Anthem 4 and the Glycerin19. I canโt buy them out here they seem to have all the brands except for this one they are so comfortable, big big recommendation to everyone out thereโฆ. enjoy your runs.
New shoes! Exciting. Mine are about to wear out due to breaking my toe in October and them being the only comfortable shoes I could wear for months. Iโll be sad to see them go, especially since they got me through c25k and beyond. Iโm trying to get in the right frame of mind for a new pair but me and these two have been through a lot together! I know itโs totally illogical.
Love the colours on those Brooks trainers. Enjoy taking them out for a spin.
My C25K shoes had been sitting in a cupboard for 10 years!!! I kid you not. They lasted me about 6 months once I started running and then lost all the support causing a ligament injury. I threw them out when the physio showed my how knackered they were. I'm keeping the Asics, they're fine for walking and I'm sure they'll be fine for the odd run if the mood takes me.I know the feeling that 'my old friends, these shoes, deserve better'
