Hi guys !l So , though we graduated C25K last friday we made 5K for the first time today .
Must admit we did increase the duration of todays effort by more than the recommended 10%, but suffice to say we are both happy bunnies with the result !! Must suppress my own enthusiasm and tendency for pushing things too hard at this stage as the little niggle in my right calf could be a warning sign that Im pressing too hard and/or I now need to consider gait analysis and perhaps purchasing more appropriate running shoes but having just made an over generous donation to Hmrc Im rather low on funds at present ,the only new footwear I can afford to indulge myself in, are socks !!i

Well done on running 5km!! But yes, it does sound that you need to rest a few days and maybe just do some 30’ runs for now (or less!!). No point rushing on ahead if there is a niggle, cos it aint going to get better by doing more!
In any case well done to you both on today’s achievement!!
Good decision not to push things Curb your enthusiasm, please 🙏. It’s time to go slowly and carefully, building distance by slow runs and rest days, to safely develop your running legs.
Running shoe wise, you don't need to spend a fortune. Lidl has some on sale soon - any time now I believe - so do check out your local Specials on the website They look good 👍
I wore my Karrimor Tempo, from Sportsdirect, one pair road and the other trail) quite happily for yonks I still have one pair which I use for gym, and the other I washed and recycled via the shoe bin as they were still in good nick. They were comfy right out the box
Go at least a half size up, and try them on ! Try loads on 😃
Thank you guys !! Taking sunday off as an added rest day , normal service will resume on wednesday with a 30 minute consolidatory run, giving a total of 4 days without raising a running shoe in anger !! We will be hot to trot !! Just resting up and massaging my calves periodically , drinking plenty of water and eating healthily - This ship WILL sail !!!
