My last run was last Friday and since then there have been a series of excuses, getting progressively weaker . They range from 'it's a rest day and I did a long walk' to 'the weather is too miserable....again'. This morning was different - clear skies, no wind, gentle sunshine. Checked the temperature so I'd know what to wear... 2.9C!! A chilly one but I do like running in the cold.
So off we set over the fields, first run since getting back from our travels. It wasn't muddy which is probably down to the great weather while we were away🙃. I felt I was running easily for the first 3km as they went very quickly (for me - negative splits 8'07", 8'02", 7'54"). After this the exertion started to show, I could feel my heart working a little harder than I'd like so slowed a bit. Finished the 5km in 40:42, about average for me and it felt great!
Normally we run at around 9-9.30 am but this morning the forecast was for strong winds and sleet at that time. We were out of the door by 8am and I think we got the best of the day today. There's been sleet while I've been writing this. I think I've won today
Sometimes it's better to just get on with it.
Oh, and today's run means I ran 53.91 km in March so I've achieved my Quest of running more than 50 km this month

Funny you should ask, they were absolute agony when I went downstairs this morning but the run seems to have calmed them down :)Just shows what a bit of positivity can do 😂
Yay that's fantastic! Congratulations on achieving your challenge 🥳💪 👏👏👏Well done on beating the weather. We had a very sunny morning and now it's worse than the worst day of winter. Not looking forward to our afternoon walk with the dog 🥶
Well done YLG, and yes, that weather cannot make it’s mind up! I lucked out earlier and just about missed the hail and snow, which I’m happy about. Oooh and congratulations on getting to 53.91k in March 😊.
That's fantastic!! Well done. I'm looking out at a white winterworld (it was spring yesterday). My first thought was 'nah...not today' but I think I will give it a try...I've never run in the snow and the cold but maybe this afternoon after I've had some tea I will do it. Just want to be careful not to slip on the trail....
Well done Ylg. I'm glad Nowster pointed out you used to be OBKs or I'd have thought ' that's a new one who does the same speeds as me'.... It's 6.30 and I'm just aboutish to get up and out. I prefer it early and the wind is still gentle but building up later. Have a good weekend.
Sorry for the name confusion but I just felt I needed a change. It must be good to be an early riser, especially in the summer. You get the best weather for sure.
