My day off today.๐ Sat at the table at breakfast eating my porridge and complaining to my family about how tired I felt. (I don't think they cared as they were all off to work and school๐ฎ!) It is, of course my own fault because I never go to bed at a sensible time and the alarm goes at 6.15am. No one to blame but myself! One of my running goals is definately to get more sleep. Anyway, set off for my run already making excuses about whether to delay my long run day until Sunday (it's hot, I'm tired etc). And it was hot, despite my best efforts to seek out as much shade as possible. Happily, and as is often the way, by the time I hit 4K + , I was starting to settle in to the run. Delighted to find that a local and very kind hearted farmer(?) had strimmed many of the overgrown and nettle-lined tracks that I run on, which made parts of the run so much easier๐. Yes, it was warm and yes, I respected this and slowed down a little but still pleased with a lovely 10k run today. Next long run day I plan to do another 12k, so am hoping that the weather will have cooled a little by then. ..Oh, and no, I don't feel tired any more!๐๐๐ป๐

As I suffered on my last run with the heat at 8.30am, I set my alarm for 6am today. Sooooo much better! Odd that, for once, I was deeply asleep and mid dream when the alarm went off, when for the last few days I've woken up at 3.30am and not been able to get back to sleep. Whatevz.
Oh Sandra, we are 2 peas in a pod ! I never go to bed early. I am tired when I get home from work but then seem to get a second wind about 9-ish and then that's it . I end up faffing about doing all sorts when I should go to bed ! My alarm goes off at 6 and I am like something off Zombies Run, the walk of the Living Dead to the kitchen for a cuppa tea ! I keep telling myself that I should be in bed for 10 and then lights off at 10.30 but it doesn't seem to work that way
Well done on your 10k today, it never ceases to amaze me how we can be tired , but then feel so much better after a run ! xxx
...mind you, I will be completely shattered again come 9.30pm tonight....until something good comes on the tv or I suddenly decide to potter (I like a good 'potter'!) "Potter and Faffidge", that's us! We sound like a couple of slightly eccentric detectives!! ๐x
Yeay! Go you...! 10K
I often think how sensible we favoured few are.. Tired... have a run... fed up....have a run...lots to do...have a run...deadlines to meet...have a run. It makes perfect sense , at least to us
You run sounds lovely... kind farmer indeed No need for speed, savour the moment and the distance! Wow!
I'm also a chronic late bed-goer and get steadily more tired as the week progresses. Monday's run is usually my best because I catch up at the weekend. Why do we always perk up just before bed-time?
Nice one Sandra ๐
Just catching up as been "off grid" for a couple of days. Reading this reminded me of the old Terry Scott song (showing my age here) My Brother - there's a couple of lines
Every night when we're wide awake she makes us go to sleep and then in the morning when we're fast asleep she wakes us up
Now it's my sensible head saying go to bed but my inner child keeping me up because I can, only to regret it in the morning!
