Improvement!!

Yesterday evening I had the brilliant idea that we should run to the nearest town, 8km away, get breakfast afterwards and get a lift home.

This morning was cold and windy. I didn't feel like running at all. Found a great Jo Wiley podcast to boost my energy but you can't download music from BBC Sounds in Greece so that idea didn't work either. Decided to do the same 5km route we did on Monday.

As we left it started to rain, thankfully only a few drops. From here on the run improved.

I decided I was going to run at a pace I felt comfortable with and made a conscious decision not to push too hard or check my heart rate. As before the third km when we ran across the sandy beach was the slowest and the run up the final hill was the fastest.

When I got home I found I was 30 seconds faster than on Monday. My heartrate told me I spent 66% of the run in zone 5 rather than 49% on Monday but subjectively it rarely felt like hard work (and I slowed down when it did).

Roll on Friday except it's supposed to be 21C and I've only got warm running leggings with me πŸ˜‚

Attached photo was taken on Monday, it really was that much of an effort (I was going too fast for the camera to catch me today) ;)

Oh you lucky lady, I missed the fact you were in Greece! That looks beautiful although I believe running on sand can be tough. You may have to run early on Friday to beat the heat, but in the meantime, enjoy!

Most of the sand was quite well packed so it wasn't too bad :)

Looks fabulous. Have a great time. 8km in the sunshine would be a bit much fir me.

I think I may have to try the Hill Starts again. Plenty of hills here - and lots of trees for shade :)

Uch, running and sand? Not my favorite combination! Too bad it was cold and windy, but well done on getting out there after all!

Thanks, it was ok. Soft sand is the killer!

Greece and 21 sounds so good to me, I soaked up the warmth here in the UK yesterday, ( but was working outside, not running)! What a great post and what a super picture, I love it... a real runner, running and enjoying the run.

Just fabulous!

PS

Snow here, has just been mentioned on the weather forecast!

Whenever I go away there's a heatwave, whenever I come home it ends and it seems this time will be no exception πŸ˜‚
