As Bath HM has been postponed, I invited cheekychipmunks and TailChaser to join Shake-and-run and me for a 7 mile race around Stamford and the Burghley House estate this morning. They all arrived yesterday for a convivial evening (we only had 1 G&T each I promise). Mr S escaped the female chat and running talk and took the campervan to a pub for the night!
It was an early morning as we had to leave at 7.15am for the 50 odd mile drive to Stamford for a 9.00am start. The weather was cool and breezy, but mainly dry and it was a lovely course, through the Bottle Lodge gates, through Stamford town centre (closed roads) , round the countryside then back through the estate gates and through the grounds to finish in front of the house. A nasty little hill into a headwind at one point and 94m elevation in total, so undulating, but all pretty much on roads.
Why 7 miles? A strange distance, but apparently that was the distance required to be able to take in all the sights. Fair enough!
It was so lovely to be back running together again and, of course, there is the all important bling! Thank you for coming guys, it was great π

It looks and sounds wonderful..nothing like meeting with our running friends ...I'm hoping to see the Kat crowd back here on the Llyn, at some point this year..and there are plenty of sites for your van.? Plas Heli...park run..eeek..xxx
Now that would be so good...there a few Park Runs around.. Conwy..and Penrhyn Castle and a Race for Life in May..at Caernarfon, where I did it last year.
What a wonderful get together and run!Super photo of you all. Congratulations all round for making it happen.β€πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈββββxxx
It sounds like a brilliant get together and a lovely run too. If itβs a brand new distance, it must be a PB for everyone. Whoop whoop. Hopefully weβll get to see you later in the year too. ππ
I had a choice of 6 different gins and 5 different tonics, so it could have been messy. But we remembered that we had an early start and are supposed to be athletes ππ€£π
I had 2 Spanish gins from our tour, 2 Craft Gin Club monthly gins and 2 Christmas presents ,but Hendricks wasnβt one of them, although it is one of Mr Sβs favourites. Must be so much easier to be teetotalπ
Yes, we have to find a way! Either I'll get over to you when you're back in France, or you can come and sample my running playground, complete with cute 'ickle bumpy bits! π
When I'm feeling brave (and it stops blowing a gale and bucketing down with rain) I might try running the dog walk I did the other day: 5.06k, 227m elevation gain, all on forest trails. Not sure I'd run it much faster than I walked it!
Bonkers, more like. Hardcore was the trail marathon: 179m elevation gain over 1km. Twice! And another came in at 170m. Unsurprisingly I walked those parts! I've lost so much fitness since then though, through injury and laziness.
The good news is also that the water bottle you kindly lent me for the GSR is winging its way back to you in the capable hands of cheekychipmunks on Saturday ππ
