Hi there fellow Questers... another week, another post and here I am , waiting, patiently, to know how it is all going with you folk!
I, as you may see, from my photograph, am on course with my Questing goals, albeit slowly, and after getting over the weird, ' one with the tunnel', run, have managed a glorious run back at Carsington Water. It has been a while. Bliss and blustery!
If you are ever in the area it is a wonderful place to visit and to run and about 8 miles all the way around, ( with a couple of really stonking hills) !
So people. How are things with you all?
I do know, from reading your posts how much progress you are making and all manner of exciting things going on. Folks forging ahead with Bridge too, all doing wonderfully, and not so wonderfully, a few folk on the IC.
We wish them well for a speedy recovery!
So... if you are new to the Quest and joining us for the first time then this is what it is all about..( and no, it is not too late to set some goals) !
What is the Quest?
The aim of the Quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.
The Quest takes one calendar month. You can join at any point during that time.
We ask that you are a C25K graduate before joining the Quest. The reason for this is that pre-graduation your weeks are pretty much structured according to the C25K programme, and we wouldn’t want the Quest to interfere with that.
Some popular goals are:
★ To run three times a week
★ To slowly increase distance
★ To train for a specific race
★ To add Stretch and Strength exercises to your weekly routine
This is a personal challenge, so it's completely up to you! If you want to join, all you have to do is COMMENT BELOW with something like:
I would like to join the Quest, or, count me in! I want to...
Every week I will put up a new post and we can all chat about how we are doing.
I look forward to hearing how it is all going, from those already signed up, any new comers too, and hopefully hearing from folks who we have not heard from, for a while
So let us know that's happening please
Happy running everyone and do stay safe in the next few boisterous days!

Well done! If I’m ever up there, it definitely looks like somewhere I’d enjoy trotting round.
My quest was going just fine when I did my hill repeats on Saturday afternoon. Then on Sunday, I woke up with COVID 🤦♀️ I’m already on the mend, just really tired, so no more questing for me this month.
I'm still in "ticking over" mode, and the weather hasn't been helping. I had hoped to get some long (15+km) runs in this month. But this is February, and it's often a bit wild.
That looks a wonderful place to run Oldfloss, isn't it wonderful to have this excuse to be outside in all that beauty!I think I'm on track with my plan to do a 10k by 4th March. If I'd stuck to the NRC HM plan I'd have done it already but I've still got two weeks to go. I'm probably ready physically but mentally I need just a bit more self belief.
My plan is to do 9km this weekend and then 10 km the week after, weather etc permitting but if I feel good after 9 km I'll just carry on that bit longer if I can. The forecast for next week doesn't look brilliant so it might be a case of seizing the moment.
I'd like to get it done before I get back to the UK, the sandy ground here is a much nicer surface than the mud which I'm sure will be waiting for me back in England!
Thank you, husband has just measured out a potential 10k route for us. It's actually 11km but we'll have to drive there so I reckon that covers the warm up/cool down nicely too.I'll keep you posted!
Well done for meeting your own questing goals! And that tunnel event was certainly scary, even just reading about it! 👻
Well, I seem to have lost my way a bit during my various rowing workouts, and between that and a couple of weeks of very busy work stuff, I neglected yoga more than I would have thought reasonable and also have not yet attended to my return to running! 😳😱
So apologies for the absence and I must get on with:
- buying those Altra shoes
- re-enter a daily yoga practice (slightly more harder now due to being back physically in the office! 😱😱)
- restart my toe exercises after ca 14 days of only occasionally doing these during yoga or stretches.
So hopefully writing it down here will make me do these!
Happy questing everyone and sending my best questing thanks and questing wishes to you, Oldfloss!

You have been busy though, being a Super-duper star to soooo many people!
Like me, things have maybe, slid a bit, but you have said it here now so...
Toe exercises...they are just great! I love the creeping...Great fun
Yoga??? Is there not a workplace yoga exercise anywhere?
I know Bodyfit with Amy, she does work place exercise and relaxing stretching etc?
The easy bit? Buying the shoes
Maybe start with that , and the rest we shall watch for!
Good to have you here...stay safe whilst questing, and back in the Office too xxx
Hi Floss, Well done to you for completing your 6k run on the Magic Plan, you had to squeeze it in early I know and in not ideal weather conditions!
This Quest is keeping me in check I ran twice this week Saturday and Tuesday and it's getting better every time. I will go again at the weekend if the weather allows.
Getting a YWA yoga practice in most days and feeling so much better for doing so. I feel less stiff and can easily get down on the floor with my grandson and sit comfortably with him.
No Joe Wicks had been done this month. But Mr Bbr is every day doing one of the 30 day Pilates sessions from the link on the S and F forum supplied by CBDB and is 'enjoying' that (it's core work😏) so we haven't needed extra workouts.
I am doing dry February and haven't slipped up!
Recorded a couple of walks but may not hit the Strava target this month.
Take care this weekend with the storms everyone...and good luck for the last Quest week coming up!
Carsington Water sounds very special, I love the sound of 8 miles and some stonking hills!
My only quest right this minute is to try and have a run tomorrow without getting blown to the IoW! I think it may have to be the treadmill, which I haven’t used in years, so I figure I’ll need to have a plan to make it more interesting. I can read my Runners World at the same time perhaps? If I don’t get blown away walking to the gym 🤣. I have been well and truly gremlined this week (hasn’t happened in ages), so I am determined to run somehow tomorrow!
Other than that, next week is meant to be cold and bright, so hopefully back to my usual quest which is generally getting 3 runs in a week.
All the best Oldfloss 😊😊😊!

I do hope you got a safe run in! It has been wild, although we escaped lightly compared with many, many folk!Carsington is super, we often used the CC site nearby and it is a favourites place... sadly missed during the lockdowns!
The hills can be very challenging and there is often a high wind on the dam! But it is fun!
I watch virtual runs on YouTube when I' m inside my 'gym'... lots of fun! I have a small tv set which I pop onto a shelf in there
Hoping you get back to your 3 runs, next week. I think I may wait until the weekend has passed !
I do miss Carsington Water. Never before have bum cheeks felt as cold as they did on chilly winter walks there! I remember the exact moment when, at the northern end c. 30 years ago, I made a mental note to buy myself some serious thermal underwear. I loved spotting all sorts of ducks and water fowl through the year, too. Bet you’ve had a wonderful time there.
This past week, I’ve done 3 runs: 4k, 7k and a 38-min speed session. I’ve treated this as a bit of a cut-back week on my HM plan; the next stage ramps up.
I’ve also used the short run to test my new (and very first) trail running shoes - which fit like gloves; absolutely perfect. I’ve been planning nice route options for the HM distance (it’ll be my run, not a group race) and more will be mud trails than I’ve been used to so far (although I do run on mud tracks in parks). I’m also looking forward to running in forests in the coming season, so now is a good point to start adapting. I’ll also soon be testing one of those hydration gilet thingies, too, and have been looking up recipes for DIY ‘fuel’. All very exciting! Does this mean I’ve caught the bug?
I’ve incorporated a serious yoga class into the week, and have actually got down to doing my glute exercises. (Started and ending with glutes!)
It is a joy for us to get back there.. and yes, it can be very chilly! I once got caught in a hailstorm there whilst cycling ...I nearly froze..!Well done you, you seem to be right on target! It all sounds very exciting and lots to look forward to in the coming days..
The hydration vests are great and reassuring too, always having the water and somewhere to carry the gubbins you may need! I just took Jelly babies and water on my first HM, but there were loads of water stops!
Yoga great and glute exercise.. brilliant, it makes a real difference. Bluebirdrunner did a post about it ages ago, and I have never forgotten it!
My challenge for February has been running 3 times a week and consolidating after C25k. My challenge for the rest of this month is to keep on track and not be too impatient.
