Today's interval run completed week 2 of the NRC HM plan. All the boxes are ticked but apparently in the wrong order. So much for doing it my own way lol.
Today was 'Run strong, repeat' - 8 intervals at 5k pace with 2 intervals at mile pace. The 5k pace was much quicker than I'd do a 5k but felt comfortable, probably because I knew I only had to run for 90 seconds. The first mile pace interval (5th of 10 intervals) was great, on the second one, the final interval of the 10, I thought my lungs were going to burst (but they didn't, you'll be pleased to hear). Garmin tells me my fastest pace was 5'12, NRC says 4'21", I'm quite impressed with myself (of course, I have no idea how long that pace would have been maintained for), I've never gone that fast! It was a bit nerve racking going that speed along the frozen muddy path full of potholes made by the horses people ride along there.
So that's my running for the week. I've already run 11km more than last month, over 36 km, so I might try and get to 50 km by the end of the month if I can get the 8km long run done within the next 10 days. I'm not going to stress about it though, after all it's supposed to be fun, isn't it?
Tomorrow I'm travelling so now I'm ticking the boxes on my to do list to make sure I don't leave any of my running kit behind this time. Next week I'm supposed to do a 'hill workout', that'll be fun, it's just as flat where I'm staying as it is here at home
