Icy ponds and crunchy woodland trails

Week 2 of The Magic Plan today with a chilly 3k. Beautiful sunshine but it was still very cold, especially in the shade where the frost remained thick and white.

I headed down the gravelled track and past the fishing pond, where seagulls stood on the ice. Up a slight incline takes me across the country lane and into my lovely woodlands. Lots of early morning dog walkers today enjoying the return of the sunshine and frost. Today’s weather is quite a contrast to Wednesday’s drizzle, rain and cold. At least the ground was frozen today and I could navigate around the edge of frozen puddles and mud quite easily.

Tree surgery along my route meant a little diversion was necessary and my route couldn’t be a circular, so I retraced my steps along the gravel track and took a photo of the pond as I slowed down for my cool down walk. A slightly longer walk back but it was quite nice to give my legs that extra stretch out and a walk.

Happy running 😊

Lovely!😍😍 That kind of trail is harder than road running but so much more interesting!

I agree with you about the trails being harder than the road. I hope it’ll help me on my March 10k which is all road. I do need to build more road running in though, just to get my legs road ready!

Trails are wonderful! I don't like road running at all to be honest, although I have run along some roads recently due to the wet weather and the quagmires on my usual routes!

Sounds perfect! There was coppicing taking place in the woods where I run the other day so I had to do and out and back instead of my more usual loop around.

Sometimes does us good when we are forced to mix it up a bit 😊. So glad to hear you’re running is going well 👍🏼

Sounds great and isn't the change of weather a relief! That looks like a beautiful route too!

Lovely photo and what sounds like a lovely outing such a great place for a run. We really are having some lovely weather at the moment although frosty pavements are a bit of an obstacle to early morning runs.
