I couldn't wait to get out for my run after work today - it has been wet and gusty all day here and I had been itching to get my running shoes on all afternoon! Headed off up my road and took the bridle path on to a local farming estate where my favourite run is. My back is still a bit stiff at the moment so I reduced my stride a little in order to run more comfortably๐ฎ, and plodded on under the trees which run along each side of the old railway line. How beautiful and exhilarating to run on days like this! Last night and this mornings rain meant it was pretty wet under foot and there were places where I had to abandon all attempts to skirt around puddles and just run right through them! (My shoes are now stuffed with paper and drying in the kitchen!) What had started off as a "definately 5k, maybe 6-6.5k", when I told the boys I was heading out, eventually turned in to a 10k run. I felt like I had the world to myself, with the exception of one dog walker early on and a cyclist just as I returned to the village. These are the runs I treasure most - still working to get that fitness back but a sense of real progress and just enjoying being able to run! How lucky we are to have days like these! ๐๐๐ฝโโ๏ธ
A lovely, blowy ๐จ๐๐ฟ 10k trail... - Bridge to 10K
A lovely, blowy ๐จ๐๐ฟ 10k trail...
Sounds wonderful Sandra. And it's gorgeous to be out there and have most of the world to oneself.
Sounds lovely - glad your return is going so well.
Great progress Sandra! that sounds just what you needed
Bliss! What a lovely way to finish the day
Back on track and how...! You will sleep well tonight, I bet x
Oh wow, that's great! Wish I could do 10k almost 'off the cuff' like that! It was too blowy for me today, I don't like running in the wind so I had a 5k walk across the fields instead.
I find the wind an issue too... I get sinus pain too easily, but the weather is a tad warm for my faithful thermal hat pulled down nearly to my nose!! I managed a speedy, ( for me ) 5K, aided and abetted by the wind, it was really gusting yesterday. I bet your walk was super!
It was lovely Floss. Part of the time I was sheltered behind high hedgerows and partly blown around a lot - depending which way I was headed! One field was put to wheat but 2 others had a crop I didn't recognise - small (about 40cm high) tree-like forms hung with tiny pods - any idea what that is? I wish I'd taken a photo!
Great stuff! ๐ I took very small steps today too. Wet tree roots, very slippery! I commented earlier that I was Rather lonely on my trail today but I enjoyed the solitude
it was windy and wet but I felt quite warm, did you ๐
Sounds lovely, you are really getting back into it
This is exactly it. The body remembers. Not just how to run but the sheer joy of it
