Horrible grey drizzle today, again. The fields will be soaking so husband and I set off along the damp streets for our 5k. Since I last ran on the pavement I invested in a Lidl sports bra and it's very comfortable, no more jiggling while I'm jogging.
I have to say I don't really like the sensation of constant hard surfaces underfoot, my legs seem to feel more tired afterwards even though in some ways it's easier to negotiate than an uneven grassy footpath. Still, it beats staying at home and staring out of the window.

I don't much like the pavements and roads either, though I am faster on the hard surface. My trail shoes are pretty good in the mud so they keep me running in the woods when I wouldn't be able to safely in road shoes
Excellent to have solved the jiggling - not good.👍That bit of kit will make such a difference. My preferred grassy tracks are really mud paths on the grass, where so many runners and walkers passed. So the move to pavements, which I now have to run on more often, was probably less extreme. Still, I do have make an extra effort to concentrate on running ‘light’. I read it described as imaging oneself ‘gliding’ (also diminishes jiggling) or ‘flossing the ground’. I think the idea is that you run ‘over the ground’ rather than ‘on’ it, minimising the time of foot-ground contact. I’ve often reached for those visualisations. Not sure I really glide or floss smoothly but it does seem to make some improvement.
Ooh, gliding and flossing, I like it! I'll embrace my inner ballerina next time ;)In the summer a lot of the grass tracks are, like you say, compacted mud. I don't mind them when it's dry but at the moment they are no fun at all. Roll on summer!
Jiggling while you’re jogging is no fun- I’m glad your new purchase is doing it’s job! You’re quite right - Getting out there is nearly always better than sitting on the couch!
