Had some gait analysis done at up and running and came away with some new shoe shoes which were pretty much the ones I fancied anyways 😃 but a size bigger than my normal shoes which should help with blisters I have received on longer runs. Can't wait to run with them. But was warned as they are pretty flat I may have to let my Achilles adjust.

They look really fancy! Hope their not for tea 🍳though hee hee! Sorry couldn’t resist. Please forgive a mature old bird 🤪🤪
Have you got snow yet or has the beat from the east not hit yet?
Nice. I've got On Cloudflyers and I love them - not very grippy though. I had to go up a full size for them. Mine are black and white only colour they had in my size.
Hope they do the trick and your toes get happier 😄
Yes I have went from a 9 to a 10 with them. I do like the black but they only had the cloud or cloudflow in black. Given a choice I'd have had bright orange
I was assuming from your last sentence that the onclouds were a lower drop than your previous shoes 🙂 sorry if I’ve got the wrong end of the stick ☺️
If you go from a 12 or a 10mm heel offset to a 4mm for example, then it’s usual to transition gradually to let your Achilles get used to the change gradually rather than all at once
Yes they are a lower drop than my old asics. Thats why I said I will have to let my achilles adjust.. I was meaning I will need to transition to the new shoes rather than just whanging off in them for another 10k. Probably interleave them with the old shoes doing just the short runs in them to get used to them Sorry for misunderstanding x
After I got a serious shin splint and had physio at hospital for months, I transitioned to lower drop shoes, but it did take me quite some time before my Achilles got used to it. I had to rotoate shoes for ages before my achilles stopped protesting. It was only my left one, not both of them
Most shoes these days have a much lower drop than a few years ago. That whole barefoot fad seems to have gone the way of, well, walking barefoot, but the minimal drop seems to have become much more the standard now. Even Hokas and the mega-sole brands are fairly even heel to toe nowadays.
I keep some 10mm as well Millsie for trail and road I do most running in 4mm though It doesnt mean loss of cushioning though! My kinvara are very cushy 😃
As part of ensuring i do not get a recurring bout of PF, i do not wear shoes that are too flat and I regularly do the exercises given to me by my physio a few years ago.
Its not just the cushioning for me (but that matters too), its the required stretch along the archilles that does the damage. Even with the ongoing stretching exercises i need to be watchful.
I could hardly walk for twelve months through the last bout. I wont be risking that again xx
Well no you wouldn’t. The Achilles is not one to mess with
I have On Cloud and on Cloudflyer. I love them both. I've had no problems transitioning. My Mizunos were way too high for me as I wear bare feet or flat shoes or boots most of the time. I've run in frost and rain and had no slipping issues, through the pavements here are quite rough. I have fewer to no leg aches since getting them. The one things that stands out in the reviews for On shoes is that people have fewer aches and pains in them than their previous shoes. Love the colour of yours. I would have loved plain black Clouds but Up and Running only had black and white, and only had a dreary greyish teal in the Cloudflyers. i think the men's colours are nicer. you will love them. they weigh nothing and I swear I run faster in them.
Cool, sounds good. I did try on the lighter ones, cloud or cloudflow and they were really light. These ones seemed the more structured and a bit heavier offering but still quite light compared to my asics. I may order a set of asics gt-1000s(mine are older gt-2000's and don't have the flytefoam) as well as the marshmellow comfieness of them almost had me sold. Will probably go for last years version as they can be had for £50 etc rather than £120+ like the clouds.
I'm really not a fan of the colour, but Up and Running didn't have an alternative. They weigh barely more than the Clouds. I had to go up a size and a half in these and two sizes in the clouds.
Nice! I bought some Salomon trail runners a while back but I wouln't dare post a photo, they're yellow, red and black with a Zulu zig zig design! Won't see any wildlife on the forest tracks as they'll see me coming from miles away!
