Having failed to get out of jail early with 2 negative tests, even though the omicold had gone by Monday, I had to do the full 10 day covid isolation, during which I only left the house to put out washing and go to the bins! It is a lovely sunny, blue sky day although rather icy, so I decided to wear my trail shoes and go for a gentle 5k. Very slow at 36.14 and it was tough going, but I didn’t stop. Got a 7 mile race through the Burghley Estate and Stamford in mid March, so I guess I need to start building up again. 2022 can only get better!

Freedom 🏃♀️🥳
The race will stay the same but you'll get stronger. Can't wait to hear how you did it on race day. All the runs like this will get you there 🙏
I can do my day 6 lateral flow tomorrow. Fingers crossed for a negative!!!
Good luck 🤞🏻 I was really disappointed that I continued to test positive, especially when I felt fine. Ah well, triple jabbed and infected - hopefully I’m now totally bombproof 😂
My husband is 2 days ahead of me and tested positive yesterday on his day 6, but the line was very faint. I'm vaccinated and boosted and have had more or less no symptoms so I've been lucky. Like you say, 💣 proof !!!
That’s how I see it too Sandie. I’ve not had COVID (touch wood) but it’s been quite tough already, so it can only get easier. You’ll definitely be going out more that’s for sure!
Ooh so glad you got out, tough as it was it must have been great running free 😂
Good luck with your training 🏃♀️
Yes 2022 has got to be better 🙏
Glad to hear you are free again Sandie, and enjoying some sunshine.
If 36.14 is slow, then I’m a banana!! Well done 👍
Thank you 😊 I’m generally around 30-32 mins, but it’ll do for now!
So pleased you have recovered and are able to get out running again, I’m sure you will build up quickly and looking forward to your race report
Hurrah for freedom! Well done. It was fairly icy out wasn’t it, I had to be quite careful earlier. And what a beautiful day. 😊😊😊
Good to hear that you are out of solitary and getting back into the groove Sandie. It sounds as though you have sent COVID packing; no surprise there!
22 days since my last run. It almost feels as though I have given up. At that dangerous point….dare I go for a run or will that risk a relapse? Another couple of days of exercises I think ☹️
I’ve felt fine since Monday. Just that pesky double red line 😡That is a long time, but I’m sure the fitness you’d built up will help and you seem to have a great physio. Maybe even go back to C25k, but please don’t think about giving up 🙏
Beachcomber66 , please don’t utter those words. Spring is (kind of) round the corner and 2022 can only be better than last year. We’ll virtually drag you out if necessary!
😊 I need to drag myself out cheeky, but a virtual kick up the backside is ok between VRBs. A stone heavier, no run for 3 weeks and mysterious foot swelling is not the ideal starting point. Physio was a bit mystified(literally nothing wrong that she could put her finger on) but her manipulation and exercise suggestions have helped. I reckon that it was a now healing small stress or impact fracture.I have just been looking at the start of week 5 C25k as a comeback route. I am spending too much time sitting on my backside, that is for sure!
We’re with you all the way BC! C25K brings back the nostalgia of starting running, so hopefully it’ll provide the necessary 🥾 Hope the mysterious foot doesn’t get in the way. 🤞
I think we can all empathise with the weight gain and too much time sitting - that’s January for you ☹️ VRB power definitely helps 😊
True Sandie, but this is a 12 year high. I am blaming Mrs BC’s chewy centred chocolate brownie…. But all down to me really. Ass in gear time!
Tom Kerridge does a pretty good brownie using....kidney beans! I've tried them and it really works, and excellent for a chocolate brownie fix.
🙂 Thanks Mormor1. Some of the best solutions are counter intuitive; I will investigate. The real issue at the moment is over production at Christmas time by Mrs BC’s Chocolate Kitchen, coupled with my reluctance to allow good food (which tastes amazingly good) to go to waste.🙄
So glad you’re out and about Sandie. What a lovely day for it too. I can’t imagine you’d have been too happy if you were stuck inside today. Covid be gone. No one wants you! ➡️
That slow time sounds super speedy to me Sandie but I’m very pleased to hear you’re out and about again! I’m sure you’ll be fighting fit for Burghley!
At last Sandie! It must have felt great to be out there again.....
Good luck for your race
I agree, well done Sandie…..👏👏 I too can only dream of a 36 min 5k especially after Covid. ( not that I have had it yet! ) Good luck to everyone waiting for a negative day 6 test 🤞😊
Glad to hear you are out the other side. We had a short break in Stamford just after the new year, thankfully didn’t encounter Covid, or at least the LFTs suggest we haven’t. Good luck with your race, it seemed a lovely area.
