I have struggled with these on the last few runs. Today was a scheduled "easy" run. However, as soon as I was out the door and onto the path I was almost on my backside again.
The pavements were a touch frosty but nothing severe and yet just walking was like being on an ice rink. I went back and put my old Asics back on and behold!! Grip !!
I think I will have to put these shoes to one side until the sun comes out. Very disappointing.
Anyhow, a nice run in the frost today amusing myself playing the "Good Morning" game. I had a 100% success rate with 7 out of 7 replies and even had a Good Morning, Sir 🤣🤣🤣
I must say I am a little disappointed to be honest. I had them following a gait assessment and review. Sadly they are just not performing with anything remotely slippy such as frost, water, mud, leaves etc which means you are always conscious of going head over heels.
Don't get me wrong, they fit nicely and are comfortable but just can't be relied on for me. I think next year it will be back to Asics.
PS if you shout at people loud enough they generally have no choice but to respond 🤣🤣
I use to wear Brooks Adrenaline but never noticed that they slipped unnecessarily and I run a lot on mud and leaves. Having said that, the manufacturers do change their design sometimes which is why I stopped wearing them as the latest update just wasn’t comfortable any more.
Like the sound of your game... can never understand how folk (fellow runners especially) choose to ignore a cheery greeting. To be honest sometimes by replies are gasping grunts depending on the stage of my run but always make an effort to at least give a wave...
I can so empathise with this. I have Brooks Cascadia trail shoes, which on the whole are brilliant ( in mud, etc), but I have discovered, rather painfully, that they are absolutely lethal on some wet surfaces. I have some nasty bruises from climbing (and flying off) wet field stiles, whereas my trusty old, worn out ASICS never slipped anywhere, even on ice. I am slightly apprehensive about taking my Brooks out in the snow, although I was given some running crampons for Xmas, think they may come in useful! Like you, I think I might go back to ASICS next time....
Ouch! Bruises are painful and something I want to avoid. I certainly wasn't expecting this issue when I bought them. Maybe they have changed material for the latest iteration of their shoes? No idea.
They were even slippy when I was doing my dynamic stretches on the kitchen floor tiles with damp soles.
I will still get wear out of them but will have to wait until it is 20 degrees 🌞 🤣
I have Brooks Ghosts which are great for most of the time but slippy with the slightest bit of ice. Last winter I bought Salomon hybrid shoes (ones that are good for road or trails) and I couldn't believe the difference! I can actually go on hard packed icy pavements without slipping!
