Hi all . Well have just read a couple of posts about gait analysis and the selling of running shoes after. So I had my gait analysis done ad you all know on the 25th June and with that promptly bought a pair of Brooks ( my choice entirely).
The guy that served me was very good and helped me (a novice to proper running shoes). obtain the pair that was right for me. My right foot was neutral and my left was just slightly under probated, this he was able to show me on the video.
The price of them were £99.99 however with the £10.00 and further discount taken off I only paid £80.00. Now I know that the price was reasonable and that there are indeed more expensive shoes out there and many of my dear running buddies on this forum have paid much much more, but for me that was a lot of spondulies to pay for them just to start to wear away. Granted not on the tread at all but on the heel collar so it’s not too bad really.
Got in touch with the shop and they told me I could take them back if they continue to wear away quickly and they would replace them. However I cannot be bothered as it’s a long way to drive and I’ll just put it down to experience.
I could have just had my gait analysis done and bought else were but I didn’t want to seem mean.
My point is that I agree with Flick that it’s good to have the gait analysis done but I also understand what Pink was talking about in his post too.
So next time I need new runners I will know what my gait is and be able to decide myself what I need.
Don’t get me wrong I enjoyed the experience and the advice etc. I am just a bit disappointed in the outcome.
Jut take your time when choosing and don’t be in such a hurry like me to get a better pair of running shoe ie name brand.
There surely must be something wrong with those, they shouldn’t wear like that in under a month, could you post them back?, the supplier ought to pay the postage. It is so difficult choosing shoes, I also went to running shop and had gait analysis years ago. I must have been in there about an hour and a half and tried on nearly everything, in the end I came out with a pair of Saucony Triumph ISO’s. I have pretty horrible flat feet but I now know these are right for me so I now generally stick to them, that way I can buy them online from the cheapest source. My latest pair came from eBay, brand new but without a box, but also half price, happy days
I wear Brooks , amongst others, but have never had this problem. It does like you may be rubbing one on the other as you run maybe?
I always buy the shoes that feel right for me regardless of name, which I think is the correct approach. I wouldn’t buy a particular make etc just because someone else has recommended or likes them. There is only me with my feet, I’m my own expert xxx
Ps even if you are rubbing one on other, that shouldn’t happen in a month.......unless you have already run a couple of marathons in them maybe 🤔
Yes having looked more closely at your photo Peggy I see where the wear is . If they had watched you running in them as mine did they should have realised if you are scuffing one shoe on another and shouldn’t have sold them to you. You could trip yourself up if that is the case. Do have a look on the brooks website and check out their 30 day guarantee before it runs out because they don’t look like the right shoes for you. I think they have a customer service phone number too. Good luck.
You should be bothered Peggy, either the shoes are faulty or they are too tight on the heel. Brooks will refund you if you don’t like a pair of their shoes for 30 days anyway. But this is a fault by someone and you should go back to the shop and either get a new pair or a refund. Be firm with them.
It does seem an odd place to wear but the shoes look sound otherwise and I doubt that area has much effect in the way of performance. You don't wear any sort of heavy weight ankle chains or manacles do you? Or one of those tag things the young folks in luton all seem to sport
Oh Pink! You are a one ! Saucey! No too heavy weights or manacles and not even a tag thing .......anymore! hee! hee! Just kidding🤣🤣🤣🤣 you are right though it has no effect on the performance . I think I was just a bit disappointed if you know what I mean. Anyway over it now😀😀
Hope your well Pinky! Going out tomorrow .....you coming?🤗🤗
It's just a plastic bag really with a tube to suck through like a big straw and it goes in your backpack. So it's not heavy other than the weight of the water you add to it. No more than a bag of sugar I guess for a litre of water.
Hi Peggy, agree with what others have said - strange place for them to be wearing, and the other shoe looks like it is starting to wear on the same place? (As far as I can tell from the pic). Is it the laces that are rubbing??
Either way, I would definitely ring Brooks to see what they say, they may well be willing to send you a replacement pair. After all, if that’s them after less than a month, it’s only going to get worse ☹️
Hi Hoagy. I’ve sent Brooks an email to see if they can do anything and got in touch with the shop I purchased them from so I’m still waiting to hear from them. So will let you know how I get on.
How disappointing! I had Brooks Ghosts last two times and the 1st pair had no wear on top when I bought new pair. The latter did wear on top but down near toe area - think it may have been because we had so much ice in the winter I had to wear yaktrax with them to avoid killing myself! Now trying brooks glycerins (£56 in sale - what's not to like??) - so far, so good - just the faintest hint of wear on right midsole. Definitely sounds like yours need replacing. Let us know how you get on! x
I'm with Hoagy, it's got to be the lace surely? There looks to be a strange rib running along the lace that might act like a saw. When you put them on and do them up, does the lace cover the wear point? If so, maybe using that unused lacehole instead / as well might help.
Not that any of that would explain why the lace would move back and forth against the shoe anyway Highly intriguing, but blooming annoying!
Yes I did wonder if it was the lace and I shall try switching the lace to the unused lace hole but as you say it’s highly intriguing and annoying.😖🙈🙈Thanks so much for your input and advice 😀😀
