Bye Bye Brooks -New Shoes

Well after 953 Km’s it was time to retire my Brooks GTS 19’s which have served me well. So too did the Brooks GTS 17’s before that.

This evening I shall be putting my new Mizuno Wave Inspire 16’s into action. I have them logged now as my new default running shoe on Garmin Connect. I just bought them today. Felt very weird doing a Gait Analysis in the running shop with a face mask 😷 on. Glad I waited to try a few different models on instead of buying online. My over pronating is very mild now which was good news. These shoes were the comfiest and suited my running best. They look nice too which is a bonus.

They look excellent shoes for running Damien, after 953Kms in your old shoes, those new shoes will be very comfortable to run in, it would be strange running on a treadmill with a facemask on, which makes me wonder when official Parkruns return if the runners will have to wear facemasks.

Thank you Alan. I hope not. I couldn’t run with a mask on. It was hard enough shopping for new running shoes with a mask on.

Great new shoes. Fantastic mileage out of your old ones, I was told 800km but hope to stretch it a bit further. I hope you have a wonderful inaugural run in them. Happy running 🤗

Thank you. I always aim for 800 Km’s. I think after that the cushioning is shot. I got 850 Km’s from my previous runners. I still have them.

This is my 1st pair bought just for running, just before lockdown, already done 570km . Expensive business🤣 at least at the moment there's nothing much else to spend money on.

They look ace mate! I hope they serve you well.

Yes, we bought new ones recently but my legs ache i don’t know if it’s the shoes or hot weather

Are you still running everyday? That could be making your legs ache W&S?

damienair profile image
damienairAdministrator in reply toDexy5

I tried to run 5K everyday for the month of April but had to give up after 11 days due my legs aching. Running everyday is tough on your body.

Not every day but we’ve been exploring different places and i think 3 times round a large park meant 3 times up hill and 3 times back down the other side that was hard on the legs, 😀

Awesome shoes. I confess that I have difficulty throwing the old ones away; in fact, I have never done it! Good job I didn't start running in my 20's...I would have had to build an Imelda Marcos Room! Happy running Damien 🙂

I’m the same. I still have my old shoes too. They are retired to casual wear with jeans or about the house.

Thank you. Yeah I like them. Ran 5K in them this evening. Felt a bit weird in the 2nd Kilometre but after that they were good.

Love your new shoes Damien. Buying shoes in a Local running shop is the only way for me now. The service and expert advice is Well worth It. Ours gives a 10% loyalty discount too. It’s interesting how gait can change with experience.

I’m hoping to get an appointment soon too.

Thanks Dexy. Yes the independent running shop I visit also gives a €10 loyalty discount on any purchase made in their shop within 6 months following the purchase of new shoes.
