An auspicious start to 2022 😷

After a lovely 13k & then a 10k on the 28th and 30th respectively … came down with a flu - felt better on the 2nd of Jan … so went for a quick 6k … (negative LFTs daily) slower pace as I was still feeling under the weather … then on Monday; the dreaded lack of taste and smell … Oh! No! Please no!

Unfortunately, yes, I have COVID (positive LFT & PCR) … been self isolating since Monday (with my son who also got it … ) and have another 5 days to go … symptoms are fine, just the funky taste and smell …

Hope I can get back to running soon … have been doing 20 minute core and strength in the meantime …

I keep seeing runners pass by my window and I am gripped with envy …

Please stay safe everyone …

Not the way we want to start a new year but I’m sure the fact you’re a runner will benefit your recovery.

The roads and your shoes will wait for you and then that first run back will feel magical 🤗

Hope you recover well and you’re back running soon.

Good idea to do the exercises. I never do enough anyway, (perhaps a New Year Resolution is in order! ) but I did do a bit of stretching after the the first week of Covid and then a week of walking most days after isolation to make sure I was OK. Although it sounds as if you did not get the dreaded cough. Don't overdo it - you need to recover fully.

Thanks Rennur … advice taken - will helpfully end isolation tomorrow and back on track.

Oh no. I hope you recover soon. I'm sure that keeping up the strength work will be beneficial for your running when you're able to get back to it.

Me too! Started to sniffle last Wednesday, tested positive on Thursday. Omicold symptoms gone by Monday but still testing positive. Started a 3 month home workout programme, so my muscles are complaining, but hopefully first run of 2022 will be on Sunday!

Hope you feel better soon Sandie1961. My isolation should end by tomorrow - so back on track. Thanks for your lovely thoughts.
