I am thinking about getting some grips/crampons for my running shoes so that I'm more comfortable going out in the icy weather. I ordered some of these Nortec crampons but am worried about running on bits that are not icy - just the regular road.

I'm wondering if I should go for the Yaktrax - which have the coils and may be better on mostly regular roads with some bits of icy patches. (snowleader.ch/fr/yaktrax-pr...

Your thoughts and recommendations are most welcome. I haven't tried the Nortecs on outside but they feel a tiny bit stiff in the front of my toes (may just need some time in them).

I habe yaktrax, but they do feel uncomfortable on non icy roads. I honestly used them only 1 time last year, because when it snows and freezes, my route is part ice and part free road. And the feeling on the free road is too uncomfortable to wear them if it is 50 / 50.

Might try them again this year as my route changed and I now have an extra part off road which might be frozen. Will see...

Thanks Evy,That was my feeling too - I can only imagine the weird scraping noise on the tarmac. I’m not really going on trails and the softer areas that I sometimes access would still mean running on the pavement to get there.

Last winter I bought trail shoes and they were amazing on the icy paths - really grippy! Maybe you've already tried them though....
