Feeling proud 😊

Like many on here, my winter running has been somewhat sporadic - mainly due to the shorter days, the cold, the rain, the muddy and flooded trails, snow, ice, low motivation, lockdown blues..

But this morning I suddenly remembered that last winter I really struggled with my motivation and so this year time I was going to do better (no specific goal other than to just keep running throughout December and January). I even joined a running club to ensure I had people to run with over winter if needed. Then Covid restrictions meant that running in a group was not a good idea followed by lockdown, so no running club at all.

Anyway I just checked back through my data. Last year 2019/2020 I did not run at all during Dec and Jan. This year 2020/2021 I have run 12 times during those toughest months. I’m proud of that.

Today it is spring-like and running prospects are definitely looking up πŸ™‚

Keep on, keeping on everyone πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ™ŒπŸ»

Well done you! It's hard to keep going over the winter and it looks like you have done really well. I'm just coming back after a few weeks off and finding I just need to get out there. I'm trying to persuade myself that I liked running in the rain! Haven't quite got there yetπŸ™‚

I have learnt to not overthink the rain issue. And then I can persuade myself to do it . As long as it’s not pouring down I will still go but I don’t own a running jacket (don’t want one) and so it usually ends up being a shorter run as it can make me cold. Give it a go when it’s just drizzling and see how it goes πŸ™‚

Yep. I think it's just a matter of adjusting the mindset! I'll let you know if I manage it!

Thanks LCR - you’ve always been my running club- the other one is very much just a back up atm. I’m not sure I like it very much but as I have joined during Covid things have to operate differently so I don’t think I’ve experienced the best of what they offer

Well done! That's brilliant! I read somewhere - there's no such thing as the wrong weather to run in, just the incorrect kit. Plus a lot of the battle is in the mind - you have cracked that this winter! And Spring is on its way so it's all on the up! 😁

Thanks BL64! All true but it’s so much more enjoyable when the air is a little warmer and the mud is gone - can’t wait! 🌞
