'Don't Tell Me The Score' on BBC Sounds is brilliant. Although the host moved to another provider, the back catalogue of guests is fantastic. Inspiring and empowering 🙏
I love listening to podcasts when I’m out on a walk but I find I can’t pay attention to what’s being said and concentrate on my running; so I go with music.
My favourite for running is Gilles Peterson on BBC Sounds (6Music), but I’m getting into Jamz Supernova who presents the show immediately before Gilles.
Last podcast was Michael Portillo’s “Democracy on Trial” - 3 episodes, very good if you like politics and history! 🙂
I used to do music before but can't figure out how to get things from my iTunes to my Garmin!! I only figured out how to get podcasts loaded onto my watch so podcasts it is! I understand, though, about not being able to concentrate. Sometimes I gloss over huge chunks - and if it is technical or scientific, I'll have to rewind several minutes' worth to catch up again
That’s right, even when walking I sometimes rewind or listen again from the beginning!
My basic garmin doesn’t store music or podcasts so I’m still carrying the phone. It will control the audio apparently but only has Apple Music and Spotify as listed options in settings. 🙂
I have heard one episode where he interviews author Kazuo Ishiguro. I found it hard to follow, though. I might have to give it another go. I don't know running BS - but will check it out.
I listen to Desert Island Discs from BBC Radio 4. A mixture of talking and music, so I don't need to concentrate too hard and can enjoy the scenery and sights. Eight tracks, a book and a luxury: what would you take to a desert island? Guests share the soundtrack of their lives.
One I regularly add to my playlist is Radio 3's "The Listening Service". It's a very accessible, almost weekly, half hour on an aspect of music (not just classical).
A podcast which was quite moving was "Long Shadow", a retrospective on 9/11 in eight parts.
I like medical / Heath ones like the Doctors Farmacy (with an f) but I also listen to Women’s Hour on BBC iPlayer. There is a new one every day and it relates to current affairs. Graham Norton is a scream 😂😂. I do like to listen to audio books too, especially when they get to the good bit! Audible do a range of series and stand up comedy sets too which are free with a subscription. Hope you find something.
I had great fun listening to Ricky Wilson and Tony Blackburn: Pop Detectives - banter between them trying to solve such as The Wild(er) Case of Ricky's Follower - Gene Wilder - it's just funny banter on different subjects .. there's loads of episodes - I just downloaded them onto my phone.
