A Runner’s Wishlist (for Chrimbo)?

Am I the only one ever, to be drooling over the booking website, Let’s Do This ?

letsdothis.com/gb/running-e...

Like a small boy in a sweet shop.

A couple of months back, I posted here for advice about booking into a local 10k festival run happening in June 2022. There’s a limit of 500 entrants and I was somewhat shocked to see only 124 places left available despite over 9 months to go.

Well, it seems in those two months since posting, there’s only been 12 more runners registering to take part! But, I suspect come the new year, what with all those resolutions people make!, the take up will accelerate. I will book soon, I think.

I was wondering, wouldn’t it be a good gift to give a runner for Christmas! I know it wouldn’t be good to land them with a totally unexpected surprise!

“Here you are, Grandad: you’re running the Portsmouth Iron Man 12 Hours Endurance Race in Easter. Happy Christmas!”

However, if there were a Wishlist - a bit like Amazon has - we could choose one or two events we fancy and some generous gifter could sign us up. But I don’t see a wishlist option. 🤨

I think second on my Wishlist would be the Taunton Ciderthon. Well, doesn’t a drop of scrumpy have the same benefits as an energy gel? Hm.

Happy running, folks! 🙂

😃. I’ve luckily been gifted races by my family. I always put gear on my wish lists too. Runners are very easy to buy for 🙂👍

Ciderthon 😁. Hic 🤪

I’ve always thought I’m easy to buy for. I can’t understand why I get ties! 😏

Poor old Grandad! Hope he doesn’t damage anything in the Iron Man! 🤣🤣🤣

I’ve been looking around for events next year. I’m thinking of doing two events three weeks apart (to give a decent recovery period this time) so, for me, I don’t think it would work so well as a gift.

Someone from the local running club did the Ciderthon and really enjoyed it.

So the Ciderthon comes recommended! It would be a bit of a trip from here to Taunton. We did have a village gin festival before Covid - I wonder if they could be persuaded. 😀

Yes, I was directed to it on following my local event’s booking link. Didn’t realise there were so many events! I’m beginning to think running isn’t as cheap as I thought. 😆
