As most of you know I’m a bit of an intermittent runner, I try but fitting running round work isn’t always easy, I admire the people who get up at 5am and run before work but i haven’t managed that so far, I come home from work most days thinking I’ll just go for a short run, walk in the door, Willow hands me a mug of tea and that’s it, sit down, get up cook dinner, eat and think should have gone!
My friend Jo who motivates me is keeping herself very safe because we have a Covid outbreak at work, and although we keep thinking we will be ok another member of staff tests positive, we’ve been doing daily testing since first week in October.
I also know no one should buy running shoes off ebay but these Brooks Glycerin 16’s jumped out at me, my thinking was if i can get them for under £20 at least i can try them out and see, I had a gait analysis last year and am a neutral runner so i bid in a mad moment and they turned up today, in very good condition too.
The fit is a little snug, I’m going to work later and won’t be back until tomorrow afternoon. Willow has gone out, I just had to didn’t I?
Out the door walk briskly down the road, time to run, after a few minutes I’m puffing a bit, glance at the watch to see my pace is fast for me, slow down, I blame The Stones who were screaming in my ears. Just a short run, 20 minutes of pure pleasure. I just ran round the roads, one foot in front of the other for 10 minutes and back again, that was nice, saw 2 people, one man said hello one didn’t, oh and the shoes? fab, I will buy new ones and it may be these, my feet are really warm.
Oh! the water? I’ve been making sure I drink an extra pint a day on top of my usual amount that usually has tea in it and it seems to be making a difference to my skin and my legs felt less heavy!
Have a great day all

Oh what a fab new pair of shoes! And well done for taking a sneaky 20 minute running break - I call it a break as it obviously did you the power of good 😊. Keep safe at work! 😁
Lovely looking shoes they'd make me smile every time I put them on 😍And you are right about the water it makes a big difference. I have a refillable bottle that I use and try to drain it at least once or twice during the day.
Well done a short 20 minutes is better than nothing . Yes water good for hydration, try telling my other half that. Love your brooks and colour. A bargain. Mines boring black brooks ghost wide fit. 🙂
Wonderful bargain there SueAppleRun 👍 Great run too, well done on slowing up at the right time too. I struggle to keep my pace under control so I really worked at it in my last run and just about made it. My last km was still too fast though. Interesting that the extra pint of water seems to have helped too. It’s also a good reminder for me to up my water intake as I drink far too much tea instead.
Enjoy the rest of your running in your new shoes 👍😀
Hello, been ages since I posted in here, had lots happening and then one of my dogs just short of his 13th birthday fell ill and within a week I'd lost him. Totally heartbroken and I had no real motivation for anything. But, I threw myself into work and running. It's definitely true about water, I can really tell the difference now when I've not drank enough the day before. I do the Parkruns now and I can tell within 2kms whether my legs are heavy because I haven't drank enough or if I'm just tired. I bought some new running shoes in the summer, I always have Brooks and they were a model I hadn't heard of and were a bit cheaper, as they are bright orange and reflective, but I love them, and then I bought some reflective elastic laces which are absolutely brilliant and when I run at night, you definitely can't miss me!!
I have never drunk much water my whole life. Just can’t face it. Maybe it’s something else that’s a bit individual. I can’t say I feel any ill effects....
We are very lucky that we have spring water for our supply so it is very nice water, but I'm not good at drinking much til I'm thirsty. However, if I do drink more my headaches /migraines are better and I don't suffer from sinus troubles half as much! I'm still waiting for the better skin effect though 😁
