Garmin Vivoactive 3

Does anyone have a Garmin vivoactive 3? Since a recent update the battery drains and died really quickly. I’m not having much luck with Garmin to resolve the issue.

Not sure about that ElizaDolittle, but I am sure you will get advice from a expert here on the forum, I have a digital watch, the problem is that's it's now 4 minutes slow, for example if it's 13.00, the watch shows 12.56, I am not sure how to correct it.

I have one too. Which version of the software are you on?

Mine's on SW Version 8.10 since an update midweek.

Long press on screen, swipe to bottom entry, "Settings", swipe to bottom again, "System", bottom again, "About", then "SW Versions".

My trick for it not to drain is:

- Charge to 100%. Leave charger connected.

- Power off. Leave charger connected for another minute.

- Disconnect charger. Reconnect charger. The watch will boot.

- Leave charging for another minute until the watch has booted.

There's also a hard power off: hold the button for about 15 seconds until the screen goes blank. Then power on again by holding the button until it vibrates.

If this doesn't fix things, you'll have to be persistent with Garmin Support. When you can get through to a real human, they're aware of these problems, and many Vivoactive3s have been replaced even outside warranty with refurbished units.

Thanks for that. Mine also updated midweek but seems even worse. Currently charging for the third time today but will try your suggestion when it’s at 100 percent.

I'd suggest removing charging cable now, then doing the "hard power off" procedure. Then continue charging until it's full.

It's the sort of thing the Garmin support people will tell you to do, too.

Yes I’ve noticed that ElizaDolittle. Mine has always charged up really quickly and drained quicker than I’d like - but it was manageable. This weekend I went to PR and found it was down to 1% after charging it on Friday evening. It was definitely charging too as I remember checking. 🙄 I hadn’t linked it to the software update though ……

Blimey I thought mine was draining faster than usual but it's nothing like what you have described. Hope the advice works for you 🤞

Mine updated to 8.1 last week, but I haven't noticed it draining appreciably faster than before. That said, I regularly do the hard power off thing just to make sure there's no timers, etc. that I've inadvertently set running (or forgotten to stop) in the background.I'll keep an eye on mine.
