As I dont start work until this afternoon I had already decided yesterday that this morning I would go for a run .
I then also managed to book my booster jab for lunch time today , so another reason to get my run done as I was exhausted after my 2nd jab 6 months ago!
I decided to go out at 08:30 after the school rush !
It was surprisingly mild at around 12 degrees so shorts and a long sleeved running top were just right !
I have been trying to pick my run frequency up again as they have been slipping recently due to a number of reasons such as work and also a few little niggles.
I have also started to do some yoga as those of you following the Quest post will know.
I think the niggles have been through infrequent runs and no other excercise in-between , something I have decided to put right as I want to start picking up my distance again.
Any way, I decided to do the NRC Just another run run ! As it would take me to around the 5K .
I set off at what felt like an easy pace without watching my watch .
It felt sluggish at first and the toxic 10 was evident, after which it started to flow.
There was quite a stiff breeze on the 2nd k which is slightly downhill but it was now starting to feel comfortable.
Around the corner up the hill towards the church and I think I managed to maintain pace and more importantly, no niggles!
I was starting to feel good about this run!
3k in and all is well .
The rest of this 5k route is undulating which takes me past my house around 4k.
It's often tempting to turn left and finish but I also think we'll, just do 1 more k and you've done 5 so thats what I did π
So, happy to have got out there again , back home , stretches done and porridge eaten !
A quick shower next then off for my jab at lunch time.
Happy running π

Ooh, well done, Ian! Good to get out there. We both need to increase our run frequency! Always good to do a 5K, though.
But certainly rest after your booster. This time, I didnβt suffer as much with the side effects. Perhaps a little more tired than usual, plus slight congestion, which may or may not be related! (Grandson was sneezing when I saw him last week).
Your mapped route is reminiscent of the painting, βWhistlerβs Motherβ. I see thereβs a cult of runners who try to draw pictures on maps this way. Maybe they were deprived of an Etch-a-Sketch toy as a kid. π
Nice work! Hope the jab goes well. I have to book a flu one any day; the booster not until the yearβs end.
Oooh Etch-a-Sketch!That was the year I stopped believing in Father Christmas as Mum accidentally left out the partially wrapped box on view Christmas Eve.
Impossible to draw anything remotely recogniseable with it though - at least it was for me π
Good run for you today Ian BEFORE you got your 3rd booster jab, after my booster, the only after effects I got was a sore arm for about 4 hours, otherwise OK,
All 3 of mine have been Pfizer.I was fine after the first but just exhausted for 5 or 6 days after the second , so will see what the next few days are like πππ
Sounds like a nice relaxed run. It is quite warm, my second layer came off after 2 minutes this morning!Good luck with the jab. If you're having Pfizer this time, I understand the side effects are minimal. I had horrible side effects from my 2 astra zeneca jabs, but the boosters are all Pfizer I understand.
What a very good idea, Iβve not run since my booster last wednesday but hoping to get back to it on Saturday, mind you iβm full of cold too so iβm not blaming the booster. The run looks great
Thank you, Iβve had a few days holiday from work a d would have been off sick if i hadnβt already been off but back tomorrow Tiredness was worse after first jab though so you may be fine
Great run Ian π, very wise to do it before the vaccination too. It is a bit warmer isnβt it - I like the sound of the gusts of wind hopefully blowing in the right direction! Hope you feel ok tomorrow π€.
Well done, sounds like a great run. Kudos for adding that extra k and running past your house. Not easy!πββοΈπ hope the yoga stretches felt good πxxx
I did a bit of lockdown yoga - my gym has all these online classes. I donβt know why I stopped really, as I could feel it starting to help! I may well give it another go, youβve planted the seed again Ian πβοΈ.
Haha, good !I think I'm going to enjoy it and I'm sure I will benefit . π
Fingers crossed that you won't have any jab-related-issues! I had my thid one mid September. My first 2 were Moderna and my thid was Pfizer. And the third I felt the least side effects from!
