A Windy NRC Whole Run (45 mins)

So having missed yesterday I was hoping to get out today and just happened to spot what looked like a window of opportunity on my weather app and it was coming up within the hour !

Maybe a slight shower.

Great ! Quick change and glass of water , dynamic warm ups done and decided to do the NRC Whole run .

This is of course a time based run of 45 minutes (so for me, around 6k)

So set of comfortably on a fairly sheltered part of my route so no problems.

1/2 K in turned the corner into the longest stretch of the route straight into the 20mph wind 😐 wow, that certainly holds the pace back !!

This part of the run felt as though it was taking forever so I was happy to have chosen to he whole run as I had the encouragement of Andy P in my ears 😁

I'm a big fan of Andy having dabeled with mindfulness many times!

Finally finished the into wind stretch for now, turned the corner to run up the hill towards the church, HOORAY the wind is behind me 😁😁

Of dear , caught by a quick shower but it was nothing much , quite light and brief .

The wind followed me now up to the 3k point and then had a cross wind for the next km.

I have never been so aware of the wind before on a run !

Andy and Coach are certainly helping me with this run and I'm so glad I decided to do it .

Some sections of this route were run a couple of times as parts of the road is flooded in places

I reached 5k at around 38 minutes and just carried on to complete the 45min at which point I stopped the run just short of 6k .

So, a challenging run in the conditions but so happy to have done it.

Stretches done and a mug of tea !

Right , what's for lunch 😁

Thanks 😁It's nice with a tailwind but the headwind certainly slows you down πŸ˜‚

Tell me about it! I was running with a 20+mph headwind all the way back today, gusts up to 38mph 😳 at least it was fun, I just kept giggling πŸ˜ƒ

Well done! Strangely - I almost did that Nike guided run this morning as well, but once I got out there and realised how windy it was, I changed my mind. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ’ͺ

Yes it's good ! I've done that one a couple of times now and find it quite motivating.

I've always been a fan of Andy P ! 😁

To be honest I would have probably cut the run short had it not been for their motivation 😁

What a brave and bracing run in that wind. Bet it made you feel alive! I am going out first thing tomorrow, whatever the weather throws at me! Just saying - need to be accountable or I may chicken out! πŸ˜‚

That was a brave run Ian - the wind has been a bit crazy the last couple of days. I hope it calms down a bit over the weekend.I've done that NRC guided run - it's a good one.

Haha thank you ! I've used it before also .

I find it a really motivating run and to be honest I would have probably stopped sooner if I'd not been doing it .

It was actually quite enjoyable (Afterwards haha) 😁

Running in the wind certainly adds a certain something πŸ˜‚ I did a 7k out and back on Thursday (should have been 10 but the thought of the extra distance in a headwind put me off!) - 30 secs/km slower into the wind 😳

Instructor57 profile image
Instructor57Graduate10 in reply to Sandie1961

Absolutely, it certainly kills the pace into wind πŸ˜‚
