11.5K - 97 minutes

Hiya,

Weekend, so time for my long run of the week. A bit chilly, so kitted up in my black with my long gold ribbons running thights and a long sleeved black shirt. Used my 5K route, doubling it and running the other way around the second time as well as using some parts 3 times.

There were a few other runners around, amongst which a nice girl who passed me from begind (she was much faster than me). Upon passing me, she called out a friendly good morning and added 'nice pants by the way'. Flattered I called out a thanks.

There was also an older man with his whippet dog whom I passed, who tugged his dog away from me as if I was going to attack his dog! Gave him a friendly 'morning' and rolled my eyes when he couldn't see.

My goal was 10K, though a little voice was chanting 12 12 12. At 10K though I was feeling good, but a little tired. Decided to go for 11K, thinking going further would not be wise as I have only done 3x10 and 1x11. Though reaching that distance I sneakily added another 500 meter.

I must admit though that now my legs, feet and ankles are a little sore and stiff. My body definitely needs to adapt to longer runs if I ever want to reach 10 miles or beyond...

Cheers, Evy

Well done Evy !That's a great 11.5k done and well done also for not pushing on further , there is no rush to get to 10 miles or beyond .

You will do it when you are ready which is far better than trying if your not πŸ‘

I was feeling ready for 12K. But myeah I was also a bit bored with my scenery, having to revisit some parts of my route 2 or 3 times. I definitely need to look around for some safe new routes.

Yes I get that with the scenery ! I'm the same once I get around 10 or more .Going past the same place 3 times is a little tedious 😁

Just keep chipping away at those distances. You'll get there. πŸ‘

There are yellow water lilies like that on a bit of the canal which is my regular haunt. They're well past their best now.

Great work, I also have this problem now I can do longer runs, I need to figure out new routes. Otherwise it's just round and round.

β€’ in reply toDylanTheRabbit

Yeah, round and round we go, until we're dizzy and fall over πŸ˜‚. I can run in other places, but that on regular roads with sidewalks in the middle of the city and I am a little apprehensive about that. I don't mind people seeing me run in the park and such, but on regular roads?

Not what you're looking for?
