On Thursday I did 5K, which did not go too well, but I did it. Yesterday I had migraine and did not feel like running. So today I wanted to do another 10K. At home instead of at the coast and I planned to do a new route. Around the back of a BIG cemetary and inside the cemetary. It is a really big cemetary with graves from the war and such. Lots of people go walk with their dog there or go run there.
So first a regular road which leads around the back of the cemetary and between houses. Then I enter the cemetary. I saw a board with a running road on it with markings on the ground and I decided to follow that running road.
Unfortunately it did not always follow the paved roads and led through grass and between graves. But then... it suddenly led inside a heavily wooded area, dark and small. I was on it when suddenly I heard noises in the trees and such. I really felt anxious. There was not a single person in view and my mind was going crazy (it did not help I watched a series on Friday in which someone was buried alive).
After a bit I really went nuts with fear. I started running as fast as I could, heartrate up to 175 and breathing laboriuous. I sped as fast as I could until I was out of that creepy part and back onto road, where I nearly collapsed.
Out of the cemetary and I tried to keep running, though slowly, to calm down. As I said, I wanted to do 10K, but I was beat and I cut it off at 8K.
Never again, next time I take my other route again and do it twice and a bit to get to 10K...
A bit of a scary run for you today Evy, especially that part where you heard sounds which seemed to come from some of the graves, ghosts, creepy, if you do run there again, get a friend to run with you.
Never again, trust me. If I should go back to the graveyard to run, I will stick to the regular concrete paths where you sometimes see a dog walker or other runner. But for the time being, I stick to my regular route which feels more safe.
π that sounds better, now I am feeling better. Honestly I think it was just some animal (bird or squirre) which made some branches fall. But me and my easily scared brain...
I was once walking through a wood about sunset near the end of December, no one was around, I did hear a lot of sounds from the trees which I knew were just branches blowing in the wind, however, for some people who did not know what these sounds were, to them it could have been a little creepy, then suddenly a man came running in the opposite direction only dressed in a sleeveless vest and shorts, running at around a 23 minute 5k pace, no, he wasn't a ghost but I was quite surprised to see any one around at that time and place, let a runner going full out. π ππΎ
Was not my fastest 1 km though. The scary part was not 1 km long and I kinda collapsed after it. So I did run my fastest ever on that part, but not long enough π
Yeah, I must admit I did think about it the rest of the day yesterday and kept feeling a bit awkward. But luckily I did not dream about it and I feel better today. Stupid scaredy cat that I am...
