VRWC Guinness 5k World Record attempt today!

Hi guys, just seen this morning that the Vitality Running World Cup are doing a Guinness Book World Record attempt today for the most virtual 5k runs in 1 day.

I had no plans to run today, in fact knowing that, I had a good few drinks last night 😏 but I'm thinking it's definitely worth doing...and I can be slow as long as I make 5k.

Anyone else joining in? 👍🎉

Well done Run46 I did mine at Bognor Regis Parkrun this morning🏃‍♂️👍 I’m having to upload the details manually as the VRWC app’s not picking it up direct from Strava, although they are linked😠 I’ve reported the issue to them in the hope it can be sorted out 😊🤞

Fab job David 👏I seem to remember lots of us having the same problem last year too, you'd have hoped they'd have got it sorted by now! Oh well, we runners are a resilient bunch, we work it out one way or the other 😊👍

I'm assuming that this is part of the Vitality Running World Cup?

My Strava account is linked to it and I've recorder a run of over 5k today. Does that count?

Looking at my account on there, beyond having a run of over 5k with a green tick, I can't see anything specific about progress on the 5k record.

I think so but me neither, it's not very clear! In fact even though mine shows a full circle and agrees I've run over 8k, 5k of that today it's in red & says nearly there 🤷‍♀️

We'll see, we've done what we can to contribute!

Mine too shows a complete red circle but the text starts with "Well done on acieving your personal goal".

Thanks for this post Run46. This explains why I had an email 2 days saying i had unlocked my account (presumably from 2019) I have run 5k today, so hopefully that will count. How are you? Did you run the Chester10k or HM last week? Xx

Hi CSMN, I had an email too saying I'd registered & was thinking, no I didn't...that must have been from a previous year too! And my Garmin must still be linked up coz after a 2 miler on Thursday I had another email saying as I'd run more than 3k it was recorded & a Polio Vaccine had been donated to UNICEF on my behalf, which was nice 😊

No, I've had some viral thing going on for a while so hadn't run much for 8 weeks, seem to be through it now so started with a couple of short runs a week in the last fortnight, then pleased to manage my 1st 5k today. So glad to get back too it 🏃‍♀️👍

I've been running but not as much over the summer . I'm hoping to build back up to my March/April pace and distances. 🤞

Hi, I uploaded a screen shot of a run I did yesterday to vitality so will this count towards the Guinness world record thing or is this just for the runner's world cup? I assumed it was for the latter but then just read this thread??

They've not made it very clear have they, but my understanding is that it's linked to runners world cup so as long as you ran/uploaded 5k on Saturday it will count towards the World Record attempt too...their Facebook page says this is the case too so we should be all good 😊🤞

Whether it's different as I'm logging in via Google rather than on the app but there's no number under my name 🤷‍♀️

Oh 🤷 the t-shirt is a bit pricey isn't it... That's what I was looking at because you can have your number put on it. Not sure I'll bother though. The £30 odd is probably best spent on a hi Viz running jacket ready for autumn/winter. ☺️

Guys, does anyone know where to find what number you are in the world cup running? I might order the t-shirt as a keep sake (it will be the first event I've taken part in whilst running) and I think you can have your number put on the t-shirt. ☺️

If using the app there are 3 dots bottom right hand corner. Click on that and the tops gives you your name and number I believe that’s what you want.
