My poor friend has one heck of a cold, so no running for her. On Sunday I arrived home from work exhausted and we decided to give it a miss. Monday I had the kitchen audit at work, Sunday night couldnโ€™t sleep, our cook left a couple of weeks ago and weโ€™ve been cooking between us and I knew that no one has had time to check dates on things etc. so had a bit of a tidy Monday morning. Audit was better than expected so feeling positive.

Today is day offโ€ฆ.. at last! Woke at 5 feeling great and toyed with the idea of an early run, had a cup of tea and went back to sleep, I love days off!

So when we woke up again I felt really tired, couldnโ€™t be bothered to run, we decided to shop then go and get our flu jabs which we did, I donโ€™t know what the opposite to gremlins are but I had them. I started to think we donโ€™t want to only run when our friend runs, Iโ€™d also looked forward to a continuous run rather than the c25k intervals, I fancied a longer slower run,

We went to our usual park, walked round I set off NRC 45 minute A whole run and for some reason an Apple play list the first list that came up was Willows chillstep music and much as I love his music much too slow to run to so while on the warm up walk I picked something else which turned out to be music I wasnโ€™t that keen on,

Itโ€™s lovely out there, cloudy and warm, we ran round a few times together and at 20 minutes Willow said heโ€™d go to the car and I said Iโ€™d see him at home as wanted to go further, I left the track and ran under the apple tree picking one up on the way past, headed out to the road and realised Iโ€™d lost interest in the music and NRC , passed a few people with dogs said hello and one man Iโ€™d passed more than twice clapped and said keep going ๐Ÿ˜€

Over the bridge and nearly 4k my apple was clutched in my hot and by then sweaty hand and I could resist no longer so i took a bite ๐Ÿคฉ sharp and juicy and just what i needed. very refreshing, from then on I practiced nose breathing because I imagined breathing in bits of apple ๐Ÿ with my mouth open onwards and upwards, jogging along, not a run of any special thing, certainly not fast, 5k in under 50 minutes though and most enjoyable

I love running ๐Ÿƒ and donโ€™t care if itโ€™s slow or not very far itโ€™s the freedom of being out there and moving forwards

Have a happy run wherever you go

Glad you had a good run Sola and why shouldnโ€™t you be able to turn over and go back to sleep on your day off - I think you deserve it! Glad your audit turned out ok, a relief for you I bet! Happy running!

Considering the cook left and the agency wasnโ€™t any help weโ€™ve been flat out cooking alongside everything else so tidying up and dating everything went by the wayside a bit, it was great to run though, the faster intervals have been fun but it was lovely to just keep going plodding along

A lovely freedom run Sola, and an apple a day keeps the doctor away.

Yeah ๐Ÿ˜€Iโ€™ve avoided the doctor for 20 months now, mind you it wonโ€™t last, eventually they will catch up with me ๐Ÿ˜‚, mind you one benefit of Covid is they donโ€™t really want to see anyone

Ah well done on a lovely run with a bonus apple ๐ŸŽ! Could the opposite of a gremlin be a gremlout? It throws you out of the door and says donโ€™t come back for 45 minutes ๐Ÿ˜Š.

Yes it actually could be,

I know what you mean about longing to run further. I was really happy to support my friend to get to 5k and then 10k but I longed to run long and slow. Whenever she couldnโ€™t make it Iโ€™d get out there and indulge myself ๐Ÿ˜Š. Sounds like you had a great run.

It was thanks, Iโ€™m slow but my favourite runs have been the longer ones, 10k though is longest so far

All sound good to me ๐Ÿ˜Starting with an early cup of tea and a lie in on your day off .

A good run and a free apple .

Just sounds like a hassle free good run .

Well done ๐Ÿ˜

I havenโ€™t run many longer runs for a while and it was lovely, each year I have a few of those apples, always a windfall though, then i look for the blossom in spring

I certainly agree with your sentiments - it doesnโ€™t matter about speed or distance just getting out there and enjoying the run thatโ€™s what is important ๐Ÿ˜Š

We plod round there when itโ€™s quiet at the weekends, are you still local? the track at the back of Brooklands is good for a short run and everything else is within reach like the beach and downs

No unfortunately I'm no longer in the area (Toulouse in France). But the Sussex coast is best

We go different places but running alongside the sea is very special, just too busy with bikes in summer

Sounds like one of those great runs. I wonder how we struggle terribly some days to put one foot in front of the other and then another day we just float along and enjoy every step. I'm glad it was a good run for you.

Had flu jab yesterday and all i managed after work today was a slow walk , Willow had his and no reaction at all, my arm is swollen and sore and the rest of my body aches

in reply to SueAppleRun

It's funny how the flu jab affects people differently. Hope you can rest up a little and feel better soon ๐Ÿค—.

Thanks Lottie, it was the last thing i did,, that flu jab floored me, each day iโ€™ve dragged myself into work, come home and slept, arm swelled alarmingly, body aches all over, pain pills have never been so welcome, going down now but still not much energy, hope to run tomorrow
