A glorious 8.5k run this morning, and my first 60 minute run since coming back from the IC in April.
I thought I would try another zone 3 run but that soon went out the window! For the first time EVER there were other runners and cyclists enjoying my route (who can blame them, it would be a lovely location for a spot of holiday running) and each time they passed (coming towards me, I hasten to add 💪☺️) I was startled out of my reverie and my heart rate shot through the roof 😯😂. Oh well, we'll back to normal next week after the bank holiday!
Nevertheless, my legs and breathing felt really strong, but I am so chuffed with myself for stopping whilst I was ahead - 8.5k was quite enough for today. That 10k is going to have to be patient and wait for me a little while longer 🙃
Sounds a lovely route. I laughed at your responses to seeing other runners. And I thought, wow, this is what one can learn with a smartwatch around one's wrist (monitor HR spikes caused by unexpected frights). Well done on 8.5k, and for your patience too. Finishing on a high is always a good motivator for future efforts.
